In the trend of me being very curious about the lives of other racers here, I want to touch on a topic all of us can relate to ingame but that doesn't go the same in real life.
Have you ever been in a car accident, or anything relatable?
Personally, I've been in two, which weren't my fault. Another one would've been my fault but never happened, the fourth was completely my fault.
My first experience with a crash was when I was younger. I was driving somewhere with my mom me riding shotgun. My mom was waiting at a junction, looking at a car coming from the left. When said car finally came by and turned right, we went the same direction as they came. However, by doing so my mom totally forgot to check the road on the right, where in the meantime another car came. Pretty much T-boned a Renault Clio against an Opel Zafira. I was shocked, but was okay. My neck only hurt for a few days.
Second time was on myself, and happened just an hour before Race 2 of the Logger Cup. In fact, it happened when I was on my way back home to do said race.
I was driving my scooter back then. Dark, rain and what not. While waiting for a traffic light to go green, I got rear-ended by a Subaru Impreza who didn't see me. Turns out he drove way too fast, and couldn't brake in time. And yes, the joke about the Sultan having no brakes has been made. I had some scratches on my hands to catch myself, and it made me realise helmets are the best things ever.
Third crash happened a few years ago, and was a one-sided crash. To make a long story short, me and some friends decided it'd be a good idea to place a 600cc engine from a superbike into the thing. Skip a few days of welding and some good laughs later, I lost control over the thing at 70kp/h and hit a tree backwards. That was probably the moment I realised I should've been thankful for my dad insisting we'd weld a roll cage into the thing.
Fourth (and most recent) event happened a day after my birthday. In a nutshell, I became 18 on February 10th, and bought myself my first car on that very day. It's a Toyota Starlet from 1990. Won't go into alot of detail, I linked it in the third crash story. Anyway, I had my first day at my new job the day after. Work over, I went outside to see only the color white. Snow everywhere. I became excited, but also scared since I've never driven in snow before, and my first time doing so would be in a 27y/o car with worn tires. I played around on the parking lot of my workplace (trucks have to manouver there so it's massive) to get a feel like the car in the snow. Handbrake, wheelspin, the lot. So having very little confidence, I just decided to go home and not drive over 30kp/h.
Me being the idiot I am, I decided to race a fast driving Audi infront of me a few minutes later. It was fun and games for about three kilometers, when the Audi went into a corner and span. Out of reflex, I smashed the left and middle pedal to the floor, make a quick prayer to the car gods, and went into a slide. My car doesn't have ABS, so I spun after the Audi for what seemed like ten minutes. Finally came to a halt a few inches from a tree, and discovered that smashing into a curb at maybe 5kp/h wasn't the most pleasant thing I've ever done, but that curb might've just saved my car from a good dent. It also thought me to buy new tires (which I still haven't done two months later), and not to race Audis in the snow.
