I said I wanted a hung parliament for debate... but DUP... just to make you aware, for those of you Tory haters here, DUP are even worse. Their party is founded on Biblical terms, with no credible strategy. Arlene Foster cost NI hundreds of millions in failed energy schemes, and had to be bailed out by the UK government partially. They're supporters of a hard Brexit, but also want to UK government to compensate NI for any lost trade... as if we would compensate NI and just let the rest of us deal with the lost trade... Overall, could've been worse. Think May should walk, although I've always thought that, she's a terrible leader, although Corbyn isn't much better. Oh and seen some points on Thatcher. Would like to mention if she didn't get in power the UK would not be the power it is today. She wasn't perfect and if you were a miner I can understand the hatred, but we wouldn't be as big as we are now without her (and Reagan with their deregulation policies). Overall could've been worse, but not happy DUP will have a say now

Its totally awesome that the DUP got 292,316 votes and now get a significant amount of influence whilst the Green party got 525,371 votes and can be safely ignored (admittedly the same goes for UKIP...) I always say the same thing. Out political system is bonkers. It is but sadly a popular vote can never work. Why? Because firstly that would lead to one of two circumstances: 1) ignoring turnout (like we did for Brexit) and going on a majority of those who voted. The only time a party has won by more than 50% of the popular vote was in 1931 by the Conservatives, and you know, that was when Labour collapsed in a terrible state. So basically it would be unlikely we would ever see a majority. 2) some fucked up new voting scheme that fails miserably and everyone is unhappy

Yh I don't think FPTP is perfect but I like the system of MPs and FPTP (ironically) should lead to fewer coalitions and result in an actual opposition which will be able to hold govt to account. Maybe some way of incorporating AV would be good in future?
