I hope they don't. I was thinking $150,000 or so. The GT is amazing, but it doesn't have the heritage or prestige of Ferrari. Lambo is a flashy company for extroverts, which. ford product will never appeal to. The real question is how much the GT weighs. 600bhp is nothing crazy anymore. I agree; Ford doesn't have the pedigree or clientele of either, but that may not stop them from charging those prices. It shouldn't weigh much with carbon fiber comprising such a large portion of the frame and chassis. I'm equally interested in seeing how the active aerodynamics work. You can only make a car so light before you have to start augmenting the weight in some form or fashion to retain friction for cornering. IMO, it needs to perform as well as a McLaren 12c or 650s. The 650S is carbon tubbed as well, but I think it still clears 3,000 pounds. If they can hit 2,700 or 2,800 pounds, the car will be unbelievable. I just want to see lap times at Laguna or the Ring. If it crushes the 458 Speciale, etc., then it is awesome. I also can't wait for the technical specs to be released on the engine. If it truly is a race engine (Ferrari did this with the F50, the older 911s had the Metzger (sp?) engines that were race-derived), that makes the car much more desirable to me. Anyway, I think it is one of the most original MR layout cars to come out in the past 5 years. I really don't think it looks like anything else on the road today.

I'll be impressed if the GT comes close to the 12C, though I can't say surprised as even the Corvette surpasses the 12C on some lap boards. I suppose the real benchmark in terms of lap times will be the other U.S. supercars; the Corvette and Viper. That's certainly not impossible, but it goes back to the price point. The GT will need to be of magnificent quality and have a ton of tech to justify the cost. As for the engine, I think it's the same one they introduced back in 2010 on the Taurus SHO, though I'm not positive. MR? Here's the game changer (full disclosure: as previously stated, I'm a Corvette fan).

Here's the game changer (full disclosure: as previously stated, I'm a Corvette fan). It isn't the same engine. It's the engine, or at least a very close derivative, of the Daytona Prototype 3.5 they've been racing for a while. I like the Viper, but the Corvette really let me down with its power loss issues. I'd honestly rather have a GT-R than a Z06. I have no doubt the GT will be faster than the Viper. Z06 and GT-R might be tough. Ford is not targeting the same customers as Chevy is with the Z06. It's an entirely different price bracket and competitor list. Ford has never really gone after Chevy with the GT--their real competition is Ferrari.

You're definitely right about their target clientele, hence my comment about the build quality. The Evora will get a refresh in 2016 to allow for sales in the U.S. again, though I don't think it'll be anything substantial. I'm not fond of the cross-over idea, but they were, and still are, in serious financial trouble and in need of profit. God, I love cars.

It doesn't mention anything in the press release about any relation to the SHO motor, outside of this being a "next-gen" ecoboost motor. I would be shocked if the engine in the Taurus can handle 600bhp... I guess maybe with forged internals...maybe.

Looks like you are correct. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_EcoBoost_engineHmm. Not sure how I feel about that. I personally like to see bespoke engines in supercars. However, it might just be one of the most reliable motors ever to get dropped in a supercar. Edit: hmmm. But now I'm reading that Rousch actually got the 3.5 motor and makes mods to it for racing. Sounds like it might be the race motor, which probably shares at least the architecture of the SHO motor. I'll be curious to see what the official word is from Ford on the motor. Also really want to see how much boost the motor can handle on stock internals.

Ford GT 2015 looks like a wannabe Aston Martin from the front and a deformed Lambo from the back, after 2004+ all cars have slowly gotten worse and worse in looks.
