Also Kaleeb42 how is your career mode going? I have done four races for Ferrari on 80%, and won them all. We had a 1-2 at China until the last lap, but it was a wet race and Seb and I stayed on inters. Ricciardo pitted for slicks and caught up 12s in 2 laps, passing Vettel and being 2nd by .1s. Bahrain and Melbourne I know well as tracks so that was ok, but Sochii? Well, here's the thing. My starts aren't great, I'm still perfecting them but I like Mark Webber so getting a bad start is an appropriate homage. Sochii I got an ok start and managed to get up from P4 (I hate the track) to P2, before Bottas slammed into me, bounced off, and spun Lewis at the first turn. Seb had to go wide to avoid it and I just cut in the side (warning only) to inherit a 6s lead by the end of lap 1. Strategy called for a lap 5 pit, but my ultras were only 12% worn at this point so I stayed out and that kept me in the lead. By the end, I beat Seb across the line by 1s. Driver's order goes: 1. NDR 2. VET 3. HAM 4. BOT 5. RIC 6. VER (lol, he hasn't retired once!) 1. Ferrari 2. Mercedes 3. Red Bull I might dial up the difficulty but so far I've had luck twice for those wins. I'm expecting to be strong at Monza, Catalunya, Belgium and Montreal. Monaco, I have no idea because I didn't enjoy the 2016 cars there but was quite good in 2011/12 cars around the city. Azerbaijan I've only done 3 laps in multiplayer with a mate on lower difficulty and I still got P3. Singapore I can beat Ricciardo's lap record from 2016 so I am looking forward to that; Suzuka, maybe. I was never able to stitch that together. Same as Silverstone; I've gotten better but I don't love it. I could conceivably take a title here. My MGU's gone to yellow by the end of the last 3 races; I'm expecting my luck to turn, sharply. But, I'm enjoying these cars a trillion percent more than 2016. So far I've only been off current pace at Sochii, and that was by a second. A good pit strategy and a lucky break gave me the win there. Otherwise I'm a few tenths either side of current pace at all tracks.

It's only toxic when you get nationalism at play, Kaleeb42 . Basically, if anything happens to Kimi or to Max then nationalism kicks in and common sense is trampled in the ensuing chaos. Kimi fans have this weird belief that there's no sense emotionally investing in Valtteri Bottas, because Kimi is life, Kimi is love (despite him literally being retained as a stop gap, dedicated #2 driver until the Red Bull guys are on the market). When Kimi's out of the race, it's time to get pitchforks and torches and go hunting. Max fans... dear god. It's never Max's fault. When Max took out Ricciardo, it was Ricciardo's fault. Even though Max said it was his fault, the Dutch fans knew better. Max was a victim of Helmut Marko, or something. If you can filter that shit out, it's fine. So Dutch and Finnish people need to be avoided. Got it. Lol

endersai I'm only through Bahrain at this point. I had a frustrating weekend at Bahrain. Melbourne I did on 80% and came 8th in a Haas after a few small incidents. I had to change my front wing at some point. I bumped up to 90% for China and came 5th, but it was raining and the AI are terribly slow in the rain. By Bahrain I didn't realize I had essentially worn out my ICE and both MGUs through practice and quali. It was 50% worn at the beginning and by the end of the race I was so far down on power I just dropped way back. I qualified poorly (16th) but had a good start and was up to 7th after a round of pit stops and was looking good for a top 10 finish but the engine wear was just awful. So now I need to be a bit easier on my engine units through free practice and only go balls to the wall in quali. In previous versions I don't remember the engine wear being this bad. Anyways, I think I'll lower the difficulty to 87 or so and see how that goes. Going to try to do some races today.

I just traded out a completely spent MGU too, plus I got rid of 60% worn gearbox and turbocharger. That was after Spain, where I finished 3rd. I qualified fourth, behind the two Mercs and Seb (first time I've lost out to him, but enough in the end to beat him as a rival). I started well, going around the Merc of Hamilton and Seb. Overtaking on the outside of turns 2 and 3 is actually legitimately the best. I was running in P2 behind Bottas, but after nailing those first few turns I was able to throw it down the inside and pass him for P1.
Then my engine crapped itself and I slipped back to fourth by lap 4. Hamilton luckily got two punctures after dodgy move and had to pit twice overall - I pitted about Lap 5 (out of 17) and came out dead last, behind Lewis, but with enough pace in the softs to push the car and bully the Saubers on overtake. Though, I passed Wehrlein, braked early for a turn because I wanted a faster exit than Ericsson, and got warned after Wehrlein hit me. GG.
In the end, Lewis pitting twice secured my podium and I'll take it - my engine was 94% worn by the end and sooo down on power. I was 16s behind Seb in P2, and in defending against Verstappen on the last lap allowed Ricciardo to get up into P4. I was lucky to keep them at bay - a lap longer and I'd have been toast.
Mmmmmm.... toast

Finally got around to doing my Sochi race. Qualified 5th but for some reason started 10th. Not sure why, I don't think I got a penalty. But whatever. Dry start, got up to 6th by the 5th corner. Stuck behind Perez and Massa for a while. Then rain, switched to intermediates on lap 4. Everyone else pitted for another set of inters around lap 18. I stayed out and nursed those inters for the 23 remaining laps and ended up taking 3rd.
It was a bit hectic trying to stay out on those worn out intermediates (they were about 50% gone and the track started drying out too).
I think 87% on difficulty is good for me for now.
Spain next.

Yeah inters are the hardest to nurse in my view - full wets are easier because if you need that much tread on the tyre it's wet which means it's cooling the tyres and preventing degradation. Inters, though... they're heating up on the drier parts of the track. I nearly lost a China win on the damned things.
I hate Sochii as a track though. I can normally get laptimes close to the guys at the moment - for example, I did practice at Monaco only, on the harder compound tyres (I can't remember if mediums or not) and set a 1:16.491. Lap record this year was a 1:14.820 by Checo, on lap 76. Now, my fuel load at this point was probably slightly more - I would have had about 5-6 laps spare fuel at this point. And the tyres aren't worth a full second. But I'm not a professional either. so I'm happy with this, and I think if I put the ultra softs on in practice I could get into the 1:15s or so. Quali trim, probably 1:13? (Kimi took pole with 1:12)
But Sochii? My best is a 1:38.9. Kimi did a 1:36.8. That was after I'd spent some time on lean engine mode so I could turn the engine up and destroy it later by doing a lap on the high fuel burn. I'm just horribly off pace there.
I blame Russia in general.

I did a 1.37.5 for quali in my Haas. Not sure I could go much faster than that.
I'm god awful at Spain so that should be interesting

Spain I fucked quali after the second DRS zone, but am otherwise ok at. I want to see how I go at Singapore though. In F1 2016, I got about a 1:46.9 in the Red Bull. Ricciardo got a 1:47.187 in the real race. So that's one track I know my shit at. Ever since F1 2011 I've loved it.

I just got the game a few weeks ago, it's huge step up from 2015 which is a steaming pile in terms of how it runs. I started with Toro Rosso mainly because I'm a big fan of Sainz. I did horrible in Australia, but I had a much better race in China and Bahrain. I've been stepping the difficulty up bit by bit and I'm down to no assists. No traction control is a nightmare on controller. I'm looking to get some sim gear here in the next week or so.

Yeah F1 2017 was a good improvemnt from previous years. But the game needs drastic improvement to the online which is just a shambles really. Hopefully gonna be beta testing this year to actually have a positive impact on the release this year

I picked Mclaren since I am a Fernando fanboy and started watching him racing when I was 8. Mclaren in this game is not where it was in real life, so it is kinda hard to do anything in the first three seasons. I m playing on 100 with abs and tcs
