I think I'm weird. I listen to all kinds of music, one day I hear hard death metal, next day I hear Barbies theme song, then the day after that I hear sick trap, then I hear relaxing piano music, then I hear pop... And so on.. Man i know that feeling... I can listen to relaxing piano, then Metal, then pop and some weird soundtracks... But i do prefer something with a guitar

I feel like the rarest thing in a music fan these days would be someone who admits to only enjoying one genre

I feel like the rarest thing in a music fan these days would be someone who admits to only enjoying one genre Agreed. I used to only like classic rock because it's what I heard on the radio all the time but GTA broadened my taste so much. I basically like most of the genres I hear on the radio waves of GTA, from Anthrax to Run DMC, to Credence Clearwater Revival, to Nena, to Public Enemy, to Bobby Brown, to Danzig, to NWA.... I could go on and on, lol. All in all, I think my favorite rock band has to be Boston and my favorite rap group would be Run DMC.

If you like Boston, try singing More Than A Feeling while listening to Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana and see how closely they match up.

Deadhead is the best of Devin Townsend in my opinion. From his golden era, where he might took more drugs than good, but the atmospheric sound is so good. Earth Day and Gaia are also really awesome.

I discovered the band with that song and for the moment I think just like you. The way that he screams is unreal, and I'm not a big fan of screams. I take note of your recommendations!

If you're really into his harder music, check out Strapping Young Lad as well. It's absolutely mental. It started out as a middle finger to the music industry, but later grew out to be a wicked band. Unfortunately they quit because that original concept vanished, and the train kept rolling by taking a lot of drugs. They actually never play any SYL songs on DT tours; except one show where he almost instantly regretted it. Ziltoid is also really great and particularly cheesy.
However I would also recommended his other stuff, in fact all of it. He really carries his own style throughout different levels of music which I really like. It's my all-time favorite and most listened artist. The last few years he has focusing on exploiting a particular music style, e.g. Addicted/Ki/Deconstruction and Ghost were supposed to be all 4 completely different. Ghost is probably not rock/metal at all, Ki is chill-down with some buildups, Addicted is like an earworm and Deconstruction is very chaotic & rough.
