With the new heists being introduced it's pretty obvious that doing them with two people is far more lucrative since you'll be splitting the same finale payouts by two instead of three or four. But is it even possible to get through everything? beta1hit and myself took upon this challenge to complete them on hard. Here are some tips and tricks we found out along the way. Some may also be usable with larger groups.
Any additional tips are welcome, for those interested on how to split the money fairly check out this on reddit.
General Things:
There isn't much to say about most free roam preps, so I'll only mention the ones I got something for. Getting a decent/empty lobby is important, and the missions where you source four vehicles will take twice as long, unless maybe you temporarily recruit some helpers.
Custom outfits don't seem to work in a lot of seup missions, and the double health bonus from bulletproof vests has been removed anyways.
Act 1: The Data Breaches
Preparation Medical Equipment:
You can call an Ambulance to your location (911) instead of going where game sends you to.
Preparation Akula:
The heli is located somewhere in south LS, and since you can die as often as you want it's faster to have one player go to Fort Zancudo and one to just head south. Also there is an elevator, so don't use the stairs.
Setup Dead Courier:
It might be worth testing if the paramedic can assist the recovery guy. Other than that the paramedic should not get anywhere close to the exit until the heli is there.
Setup Signal Intercepts:
Go to the side of the trucks before activating the scan. The boats are a bit harder since they'll even shoot to the sides and forward. Try to stay to the side and slightly in front, that should help. If it doesn't get the second player into the vehicle since he can use his smg toshoot down the driver.
When trying to jump over the airport fence from the north don't go for the wide bank which is an obvious ramp. The car may lose altitude before getting over it. More to the left is safer.
One guy should stay a bit behind the airport to shoot down the helis and protect the guy scanning.
Setup Server Farm:
The sneaking section is pretty easy and can even be done solo, if you have lag issues (guy on cotroller without targeting assists talking here, for refference).
Inside the serverfarm it doesn't matter if you take out all the guards (but definetly the scientist), at some point you will be detected. Safest way through is on the sides. The npcs don't seem to attack players that are doing the hacking minigame, so you can go into different directions instead of protecting each other.
The hacking itself is pretty easy if you have a pattern. First time just go straight. Second time go one down and connect the last one to the top. Third time go one further down and so on.
For the way back out it's easier to stick to the walls again and only shoot npcs in front of you. Just run. In the centre you may have to clear a path. There are enemies coming from the sides, two people are on the gantry, some may be coming down the stairs.
Outside again it's easiest to take miniguns and rain a bulletstorm on the people between you and your helicopter. At least you can now just go forward and don't have to circle the entire building. Don't rush it and have one person covering the other when going up the ladders.
Heist Data Breaches:
This is pretty straight forward. For the start either take an armored or weaponized vehicle to clear the outside of the facility. The mission is pretty short but hard. Don't rush this.
The first part of the underground area is identical to your base and enemies are on the main hallway as well as the suspended walkway on the right and the floor below. Keep an eye on the sides, especially since npcs may come up the stairs.
For the rest it's also just slow and steady.
Act 2: The Bogdan Problem:
Setup Avenger:
Having a Heavy Sniper MK2 with thermal scope (and non-explosive rounds maybe) will go a long way here.
When entering the hangar go to the right, even when the lights go out. Activate the night vision asap, because there's a guy coming towards you. Stay on the bottom layer and hide behind the rooms. In the gap between the two you have a decent chance to shoot multiple people in the centre of the hangar and on the gantry above to the right.
Once you cleared out all enemies you can see go up a layer using the stairs near the wall. Be carefull since there are a lot more mercs around that you just couldn't see before. Slow and steady wins the race here.
The Generators are on the top level above the entrance.
Setup Rescue ULP:
The lookout doesn't have to actually climb the water tower, after a while the next phase will trigger anyways. Instead they can go into the foundry as well, or at least into the little entrance way before the office. From there it's easy to keep the ground team's back clear. the second entrance on the other side of the building can be blocked with a motorcycle.Another way to guard the entrance is by driving an Insurgent (Pickup Custom preferably) around the most left building and park it behind the entrance door. The lookout team should have little problems keeping the NPCs away with the turret. The regular Insurgent should already help as well, but don't take a Kuruma, you need a vehicle that's explosive-resistant.
Once ULP exits the building the next cp triggers, so if you die you respawn away from the facilities and all enemies.
If you need to get away alive for Criminal Mastermind, maybe putting down sticky bombs in front of the entrance can go a long way. Let them gather and blow them up when you want to leave.
Setup Salvage Hard Drives:
This is pretty straight forward. Extinct the fires on all vehicles at the places first, then all get out the vehicle to kill the enemies before salvaging the goods. Alternatively use the RCV as cover for the salvage person and hold down enemies with the water cannon.
Heist The Bogdan Problem:
This is really easy and straight forward. The Avenger has an autopilot for hovering so the pilot can man a cannon once it's in position. At the end just land on the beach east of the submarine to pick up the diver and fly towards LSIA.
Act 3: The Doomsday Scenario:
Preparation Marked Cash & Recon:
Both are pretty straight forward, but you can speed things up if one associate stays in south LS after Marked Cash. The host can then start Recon, which has you go to Elysian Island anyways to take pictures. Also there's a chance for the Chernobog mission happen around the docks, so you can save a lot of time if one person just stays in the area.
Setup Rescue Agent 14:
If you have one the Insurgent Pickup Custom with armored plating and the regular machine gun will make this mission a lot easier.
Fighting the mercs is much easier in an armored Kuruma or the Insurgent, but after the cutscene you will be faced with invisible juggernauts carrying miniguns. Three of them will stand in the main hallway, after you defeated them there will be two more entering at each side of the open back. Their biggest weakness is explosions. You can place some sticky bombs beforehand, other than that the rocket or grenade launcher may be a good idea. If you're good at headshots the minigun may also work and even be quicker. Using the goggles on your helmet allows you to see them.
If you got through this ambush now would be a great chance to get your Insurgent Pickup Custom, alternatively the Vigilante also helps. It's missiles can easily rid you of the last four juggernauts and it's armor can take a few hits. The Insurgent however is a lot better here, just make sure you get in close enough to make up for the inprecise gun. It will mow through the juggernauts like no big deal.
Two of which will appear at the waterside of the storage haul with the open ends, the others will be standing at the roadside entrance of the area where the chopters are parked. To get them easier just go to the road and enter the last section from there.
Setup Escord ULP:
With two people you will want both inside the Chernobog. Overall this isn't a great vehicle, but at least it should easily stand the fire of the enemies on ground and it doesn't seem like they can even hit the driver.
As for support vehicles everything should be better than the ramp buggies provided here. Armored Kuruma, Vigilante, weaponized Tampa or Insurgent Custom would all do a better job protecting the big truck, just to name a few. But as already mentioned you don't really need any support.
Setup Barrage:
Shoot down everything but the Cargobob as soon as possible. For that one it's better to wait until it's above the top of the hill so the car won't land on the mountain side. This may be a bit easier if you use a vehicle as support instead of maning the guns on the Barrage. Weaponized Tampa, armored Kuruma or Vigilante can make this even easier as it is already.
Prep Onboard Computer:
For this one I highly recommend a Savage, a Hydra, or any plane/jet with explosive ammo, since this thing can't be logged on to with missiles. Going first person makes it very easy to aim.
Setup Air Defenses:
Hitting the targets isn't easy. I suggest divebombing (gaining altitude beforehand and flying right towards the targets from above) them, which makes aiming a lot easier. Also a gunner on the bottom turret can take out a few targets himself.
Heist The Doomsday Scenario:
You can take the Barrage without any hesitation. Doing so gives a small money bonus to the host, it's overall faster and the firepower is more than enough to get you through the section ahead. Taking out the enemies with the turret isn't hard, when coming to a long left hand corner I suggest the gunner to take the grenade launcher and to go through it backwards.
At the end of the corner turn the car slightly to the light so the four juggernauts aren't in the blindspot of the gunner. If you have to respawn here you'll need to eliminate them on foot. If that's the case it's easy to let them come and have one person with a minigun wait on the small rock to the right of the opening.
Enemies in this area will be especially hard to kill unless you land a headshot. If you have issues with that a minigun can be a good choice.
Getting into the first smaller passageway there will be another juggernaut ahead. He's easily defeated with a well placed rocket.
For the split up ahead I suggest that small teams stay together, just go one way first and come back on the other one at the first possibility. Note that the game will send enemies after you if you do this, so expect them to come from behind at some point.
The left way is more of a narrow tunnel while the right one goes into a storage area. There's a connection between them but both lead to different points of the same straight tunnel with a suspended walkway. The left tunnel goes to one end of it while the right tunnel coming from the storage connects to the middle where you'll find two more juggernauts. Going at this from the left seems like a better idea so you don't end up with opponents on two sides.
What follows is a very difficult and large square room with three layers. You start at the bottom with a set amount of enemies around you. You can quickly get rid of them with a minigun, but remember to put it away to use cover.
The second layer with the technical equipment is where it gets problematic. All the doors on the wall are respawn areas and the enemies keep coming indefinetly until you hacked four servers.
One thing you should plan for is that the person doing the hacking will not be attacked. A good tactic is to stay together to reach a hacking point and for everybody not hacking to hide in a nearby respawn hallway. The hacker should announce when he's about done so the rest of the team can clear the area of enemies. For some reason some may lock on the hacker and just stand there waiting for him to finish while others can shoot them down. Do that four times and the opponents will stop spawning. From that point on you are through the tough parts and should be a bit richer soon enough.
