Just focus on making sure you're using your brakes enough and hitting apexes. If you slow down too much, no big deal. You lose a lot more time if you overshoot a corner and crash. Yeah I feel that's a big issue of mine

I could advice you to check race footage of events (Broughy's streams of the MCEC races for example) so you can see how the top drivers approach the races. You'll rarely see them go balls to the wall every single lap. It's all about being consistent. You should see if there are organised playlists and regularly hop on in those, that's usually a good place to learn the basics of racing with others. Yeah that's what I'm doing now , hopefully can be competitive

Just a note. Many of us were peobably at this stage at the start. No one can simply be a top-tier racer in a month. It takes a long time to get Merphos level. The best thing you can do is not give up, we are all here because we simply enjoy racing. Not how well or bad we do. I am a perfect defintion, I’ve had major downs and major ups. I’m still here on GTA after 4 years because I just enjoy racing and that all it comes down too. Not my skill level. Yeah I guess but for instance in a 12 lap race I was first for 6 laps , then by the end of the race I had dropped to 7th , I have no idea how. That even happened

Should I give up? In short, yes. If you feel you need to give up, then you do not enjoy what you are currently doing. In that case, you should give up what you are doing, and try something new. Some things happen best orgranically. You gather the required components, and let the work do itself. Improving in racing is no different. Through trial and error, you will gain experience. Through observation and curiosity, you will gain knowledge. With sufficient experience, you will be able to apply your knowledge to create understanding, and with understanding comes skill. This isn't a job. Throw on some music, sing along, get your favorite drink, and sit down and set some short-term goals. See if you can get closer to that one corner, or if you can drive alongside somebody without crashing into them. Try a slightly different line around a corner. Have fun with it. The car is your paintrush, and the road your canvas. Kick the back end of your car out because it looks cool, or try to stay within the confines of the roads without going over sidewalks. Silly things, but you have fun doing them, and become more comfortable controlling the vehicles which will naturally result in you improving over time. In short, don't worry about it so much. Being last is better than being first anways, because if you're first, there's nobody left to race against but yourself. Have fun with it. I do enjoy racing but not when I'm chocking all the time aha ,thank yiu

I raced for almost a year at the back of the grid, minutes off the pace before starting to be ale to compete at the top. It will come, just wait. If you don't feel like waiting like at least 6 months to become good then don't do it, it's up to you. Depends if you're bothered about racing at the top that much. Yeah man I'll stick with it thank you

Consistency is key. No need to try to get that best lap time if it causes you to choke. I usually drive at 95 % of my capabilities because when I give everything I've got, it's just one big crashfest and I end up being slower. Don't push yourself too much. These things take time.

slayaaaz69 you can quote multiple posts inside the gear icon menu on each post -> select post. Posting multiple times in a row is usually frowned upon on forums. As for the question at hand, dont let it bother you. With most racing games I quickly improve to a certain point and then "get stuck" until one day something clicks and I improve quickly again. And going by other posts in here, practise consistency and not making mistakes. It's a lot more worth slowing down a little extra over going wide and hitting a wall - keep damage to a minimum so that the car isnt slowing you down.

Don't give up man, you might need to take the pressure off yourself by doing a bit more non contact and maybe some hotlapping to focus on your technique, with the contact off you can watch other peoples lines etc without the trauma of thinking you are going to crash into someone. Relax and enjoy the racing, nobody is going to judge you, it's part of learning, watch this if you want to feel better about your driving lol youtu.be/WgX8uCEFjhc

I've been into racing for about a month now and I've found myself to have a better time in off pace cars.
In casual racing people are going to have issues and on some tracks they will have the typical pile up on the first corner.
So if I'm in a slower car, naturally I will fall behind in the beginning and then I will avoid the issues of others to maybe get somewhere in the middle. Then there's still some battling but I don't feel too bad letting the quicker cars go by.
If I try to use a quick car and push myself I just keep oversteering or crashing into apexes, then I drop down the order and become more frustrated and try to make up for it so I just crash even more.
I think in a slower car it's less likely to get frustrated because you can just blame it on the car being off pace, and instead focus on taking good lines.
