As we all know GTA isn't in a great state and many of us are moving to other games such as GT sport. Due to this it is getting harder and harder to get enough people to compete in events and is sadly leading to many of our much loved GTA events to end and be discontinued. This thread is just for people to bounce ideas off each other in regards to GTA events and to help people host events that people will want to join and enjoy competing in. Hopefully through this thread we can create some great and successful events and help maximise the number of participants competing in these events. Furthermore, I hope this thread helps bring back some of the love we used to have for the game! I'll start us off by leaving an idea I had for an event. Details of the event can be found in the link to the document below: docs.google.com/document/d/1UcCO31gVcbE5arc4nq6THdzyvXTCvZZ8wBCzrUUINiM/edit?usp=sharingFeel free to suggest any improvements to my idea and also feel free to leave your own ideas for events below. Lets Make GTA Great Again!

One thing that GTA lacks is a good class system. We have hyper cars and cars whose sole purpose is to be the best of the best (like the vagner). And I know that Abecede managed to make a very useful and somewhat accurate algorithm to set up races where you can use any car in a specific class and not be at a disadvantage or advantage. Possibly if we could figure out an algorithm working alongside Abecede, we could develop a method of racing different cars in a class without having to stagger, similar to how Forza has S class and A class hoppers where you can only race cars with a certain PI.

I think the way to go from here is one-off themed events. They don't require a large number of recurrent players week after week and seem like much less of a time sink than a six or seven week championship. I feel like people are more likely to get sick of something that drags on too long too(see: mcec4).
Plus, if I don't like the cars/tracks I can wait a week and there'll be a different one that I might actually enjoy, but if I see a championship with a car I hate it could be months before the host does something different.

Yes i totally agree with u however, people r holding mostly 1 off themed events but no one is signing up and the events r therfore being cancelled. What i said is regarding ps4 no idea what it is like for other platforms. What we really need to do is all work together and create events that people will actually want to race in

Is that accurate? One of my one-offs has been up a day and is half full already, and they other has only got 2 spots left...

As i said i am unaware what the situation is like on other platforms but the ps4 situation isn't great. Not enough people are signing up for events so they are being cancelled or people are choosing to stop hosting events due to lack of interest i.e BWER

It would be nice to go back and have an event(sports, supers, w/e) that only uses the cars that were in the game at the original release. Downside of that is that everyone would probably just use the entity and elegy.

The only problem is, as you said people will choose the likes of the entity or zentorno all the time as they are faster which would ruin it. Hosting an event like this would recquire finding well balanced tracks for the class and stuff

We only used cars that were in IGG or earlier so most classes were still balanced with a wide variety of cars.

Honestly, meant the literal cars that came out with the game, no zentorno, no turismo, etc. Possibly ban elegy, as it is just stupid compared to the other sports cars, especially for that point in time. But yeah, pre IGG + elegy ban would work pretty well, I would imagine.

Lets Make GTA Great Again! Hi mate, it's a good point you make here, the game seemed to deteriorate very quickly in some peoples eyes and a lot of negativity seems to have appeared, from what was a busy thriving community. The game itself is the same, so what has changed? There is a lot of moaning about OP cars and Rockstar actually wanting to make money out of the game. But have we actually forgot how to have fun with all the pressure that everyone puts on themselves to win races, followed by who crashed into who etc? What we have probably established is that the people who used to run events and the people who used to join them are not interested anymore(mostly), so rather than keep bothering the same girl at the bar (who has already told you to fuck off several times) we need to move on and find other people, who are not necessarily involved, or still have the love for the game. I have to do this sort of thing all the time as part of my business, finding new clients/angles to get bums on seats. There are around 1000 members of Nodo, is there a way of tagging them in this kind of post to gauge a response, or some way of directly attracting peoples attention, rather than relying on everyone reading the forum posts, almost like a here's what's going on in Nodo message each week, well in advance of the event, rather than just the Slack calendar notifications. I like what thejp15 is doing with his weekly playlist, the timing is wrong for me, so I can't actually participate, but it does look like fun, maybe if mini divisional points could be added too, almost like a handicap system in golf to level things out a bit and make it more interesting for the less experienced members. There is still a lot of mileage left in this game, but like most things, there has to be an evolution and constant change to keep it interesting.

Not entirely sure how you would go about trying to notify everyone about events and stuff. I suppose that's what the move to discord is all about but tbh that will just be like slack and only those who are regularly active and checking the app will be notified about events. On the other hand I really like the idea you have made about a handicapping system. It would definitely make races more balanced, competitive and exciting. I also imagine it would encourage a lot of newcomers to start racing or even those who are reluctant to enter events due to being worried about their racing ability. It would also potentially help people maintain some interest in the game as they would be able to see improvements in their ability from their handicap getting lower. I also think it would appeal to those who are regularly racing in events as they would maybe get more competition from an event like this and not be winning races week in, week out. Not entirely sure how you would work a handicap system but it is definitely something we should try to look into/work on.

I actually like your idea of a handicap system, could give a bit more purpose for everyone throughout the grid during the playlist. I’ll see what I can do.
