I was thinking about getting Wreckfest but I don't know about how good the racing mechanics are, anyone own it/have played it?

I have played this a few times  Not sure what you mean by gaming mechanics but i'll try my best. Cars are fun to drive, and learning curve is pretty easy. There's good support for wheels and pedals but you don't need them. You can Be as fast with controller or keyboard too. Game looks nice and is much Fun. Feel free to Ask more If you like |

As Baron nailed it in his yestrday stream, its like Project Cars physics with GTA simplicity of control mechanics.
Its the best racing game after GTA for me, if you like playing with controller. And i ve played every single one of last years releases.
It lucks content tho, it has like 20 cars and 20-25 short tracks.
Multiplayer is a blast, works fine, and contact feels so good because of physics and crash effects.

honestly, a really good crash simulator! to me, its not like a normal racing game like rfactor or gta, its more smash-this-person to-get-1st-place and stuff

I've played online on BenDover's server. It felt like home because of them fair racing rules. Very much like here in NoDo. If i want to release some steam then join some no rules server where everyone usually drives More aggressive.

Anyone tried it on Xbox? I am so sick of the framedrops on Xbox in GTA, so I am reluctant to buying more racing games for it.

For a while an F1 mod was in development for it but it sorta died out, it's a good game though.

I've enjoyed Wreckfest, the graphics and physics are very impressive, but after about 5 hours I've gotten rather bored with the grind for the unlocks. Seems like there's just a handful of tracks with alternate paths depending on the race. I do recommend it, I greatly appreciate you to have to be strategic about car upgrades (armor decreases speed), just would advise holding off for a sale if you can. My first experience with the game was actually racing with Broughy during a stream about a month ago, which was very fun. I agree with jaguarshark, I love the game but when they were working toward the official release and kept updating it and erasing my progress so I had start over to unlock everything again didn't make me very happy. That shouldn't be an issue since it is out officially now. It's a great stress reliever for sure especially on the figure 8 tracks and the demo derby game-mode!

It takes ~3 hours to unlock everything if you race with full grid of lawnmovers on oval track. Of course you choose your favourite car.
