Please dont hate on me.
I feel like the time to leave GTAOnline has really come and gone. If E3 has shown me anything, it is how un-invested Rockstar is when it comes to rewarding the player-base and providing us with new experiences. The quality, attention to detail and effort has all but dried up.
Now, I am not saying this because all the new games coming out look shiny and new - I am saying it because many of them are trying to push the envelope in what can be accomplished in online games. GTA Online certainly tried that at first, we can all agree that the heists were a defining moment in GTAO history and still the best update in many ways. But the last few updates, including doomsday (which we all know re-purposed what was originally planned as a single player DLC) have all lacked refinement, quality and originality.
For the most part the community has accepted this and rolled with the punches - grinding, buying shark cards and trying to 'keep up with the kardashians' by getting the latest cars, planes and other stuff. But the stuff that we're getting is not worth our in-game time or real-life money. Lets look at the Comet Retro (terrible liveries that were mis-aligned), the new Jester Classic (A Toyota given a Honda badge with multiple asset errors, an example being the tailgate brake light) and the Infurnus Classic which had tires of different widths. Just three examples plucked from a plethora of options.
This isn't to say that GTAO can't still be fun! Online racing with groups is an example of where this game still has it's moments, but I feel it is all getting a bit stale. The trouble is, of course, no other game offers the breadth of options that GTAO does, so it may still be the only game of its type. Is this why they investing minimal effort? (Red Dead II is not an excuse, considering the sometimes $40-50 million a month that GTAO earns Rockstar)
But if you were not grinding/ playing away in GTAO what would you play?
I gotta admit that Fallout76 looks amazing (personal opinion) and I think Anthem looks pretty great (the way jetpacks should be - and what i wish the Thruster was). But what if GTAO got a huge addition? What would you want? I used to think a new map and some big additions might cut it, but now I am not so sure.
What do ya'll think?

Yes, GTA:O has become a cashgrab crap over the year. Yes, R* is too lazy to do anything good. Almost all the new cars have issues. Flash GT has a missing light bulb, Dominator GTX has its RPM needle misplaced on the dashboard and light emissive textures going through the hood, Jester Classic is the mess we know.
Why does it keep running? Because it's the only viable option for a GTA-like game online.
I wish I could definitely quit, but when I see the amount of time I've invested in it, and the lack of other options when it comes to online GTA experience, I come back to it now and then. Not as often as I did in the past though.
Now, would I quit GTA:O for good for the new games being released? Honestly, no. Fallout 76 is a joke for any Fallout fan (like me who played all Fallout games from the first one back then down to the fourth), it tramples the lore like an elephant in a crystal shop, ruined the Fallout experience (online means no VATS for example), is a full-online game experience (and we all know how those end, with people killing each other non-stop, Bethesda can forget about any cooperation), and I'm confident that since it's an online game, no mod will be allowed on the contrary of the so many Bethesda games, and I'm even more confident Bethesda will release skins that mods could give you but in an in-game cash shop along with lootboxes of emotes and cosmetic shit because nowadays 'games-as-a-service' are what's working (and I hate that). Anthem looks very clunky, and with how Bioware ruined ME with a rushed Andromeda that couldn't live up to the license's legacy, I don't put hopes in it. Nothing really got my attention at this E3. So, I'll be buying cars in GTA:O for a tiny longer time.

Good point on Anthem but, just so you know, Todd Howard confirmed mods and a single player version of 76 yesterday - granted it wont be at launch as, understandably, they'll be focusing on making sure the online component works, but then they'll let you go single-player during which you'll be able to use mods. I am also a fallout fan, though I came in at 3, as 1 & 2 are not really my style, though I love the lore in them. back to GTA though.
If know one ever quits, why would they ever bother changing? And when you say GTA online experience, what does that mean to you? I know what it means to me, but what about you?

So, I'll be buying cars in GTA:O for a tiny longer time. - Fallout 76 has VATS, they work in real time. - Fallout 76 will have mod support and private lobbies post launch. - The game is 25 years after the bombs fell, ghouls can easily form within that time. And didn't Super Mutants and Deathclaws exist pre-war, as they was government experiments using the FEV virus? All I've seen so far that really breaks lore is bottle caps as money, as I believe paper money should still be in use at this time.
Now the game becoming a giant deathmatch is the main concern, but I think it largely depends. Any online game will have trolls, but I think a lot more people may be willing to work together if the game doesn't has any kill/death ratios or any other stats that attract tryhards, which was a big mistake GTAO made.
Overall I'm exited, the map is 4X bigger then Fallout 4 with 16X the details, and lobby's will only support a dozen or so players, less then even GTAO. So there should be plenty of space for people to spread out.
Maybe the game will suck, who knows? But I always wanted to try Fallout Online, I was really excited when Fallout 4 Online was rumored but it never came out. I would of indeed liked a story mode, but I guess I'll just have to continue waiting for Fallout 5 to see that.

Oh I know about the in real time VATS. Does it make it a VATS though? Definitely not in my opinion. The point of the VATS was to pause the action to analyse the situation, and pick a tactical decision about who to shoot first, with what weapon and in what part of the body, by picking what percentage you were ready to risk for your shot to hit its target. It was a great remnant of Fallout 1 & 2 that were turn-based games where tactical decisions were legions and could easily define if you live or die (those games were pretty unforgiving). An in real time VATS will be nothing more than a filter on your screen to tell you where you should shoot, with percentages of hit that will change -all- the time depending on the range because the target will move or hide, making it more of a reactivity/reflex tool than a tactical, analysis tool. It's a shame, and ruins the spirit of VATS and Fallout games. The game certainly won't support mods online though. It's Bethesda we're talking about. The ones who wanted to privatize the mods by making people pay for it (gladly PC gamers refused this shit and they had to back off). No mods online will be allowed, just like GTA Online doesn't allow any mod. And I'm not even gonna mention that private lobbies should be a feature available AT LAUNCH, and not after release. But what's the point of a private lobby or a solo mode anyway, considering there will be NO NPC on the map to talk to, pick quests from, or trade with. As for the super-mutants, no, they didn't exist before. At all. Supermutants have been created and produced by The Master, no sooner than in 2102, and that was on the west coast of the US. The Vault 76 was supposed to open 20 years after the bombs dropped (2077) in Virginia, although it opened 5 years late, in 2102. Meaning that in that game, supermutants managed to be created, be mass produced, and exoded towards the eas coast through a devastated country to settle in Virginia, in the same year. It makes absolutely no sense. They have no respect for the lore that has been created by previous games and books. Did I mention that lobbies will be of maximum 12 players also? Yes, 12 players in the same session max. GTA Online 30-players sessions seem like a huge server next to it. And you'll be able to form squads of maximum 4 people. 12 people in a map 4 times bigger than Fallout 4, with no NPC in it. It'll be like PUBG where you can spend a whole game not meeting anyone, and at this point why not making a solo Fallout all together. Oh, there's also the fact that it's been clear people can take control over nuke sites, and LAUNCH NUKES ON OTHER PEOPLE. Launch nukes. On other people. In Fallout. Not only it makes absolutely no sense to do that (what's the point of nuking an already post-apocalyptic world, not only people should be aware of what nukes do and how horrible they are, but said nukes wouldn't destroy anything that wasn't already destroyed), but you can have -all- your efforts of survival (building a base, harvesting resources, upgrading your stuff) ruined by one nuke in your face, forcing you to restart from the beginning. It's just like GTA's orbital cannon, only a hundred times worse. It'll be the ultimate griefing tool (assuming people wouldn't grief each other already because we all know what online survival games are). Don't get me wrong though. The idea of a Fallout Online can be cool. If it's done properly. For example, if you could play a Fallout game in Co-op. Wouldn't that be cool to be able to play an actual Fallout game, with its story, quests, NPCs, with your friends, while exploring the wastelands all together? But a Rust-like game in worse with a Fallout skin, absolutely not, definitely not. I'll wait for a real Fallout game.

On E3 Todd said a dozen but in interviews since then it's been clarified to be 24-32. So that's a little more crowded then I would of liked.
As far as we know there is going to be a bit of work required to getting a nuke, it's not like you can spawn in and fire nukes. But yea it does seen op.
All I ever did with VATS regardless was max out the skills for it, aim at a enemy, and put everything into headshots. Fallout 3, Fallout 4, I only ever used it basically as aim assist anyway. So I don't see it being in real time effecting my personal use of it.
Honestly I always thought Fallout Online would go in a co-op direction, this was surprising to see this kinda gta approach to it.
Honestly half the time I play Fallout I only explore the wasteland killing monsters, especially in Fallout 4 where I got like 2000 spike ammo on my main character because for whatever reason Teagon of the Brotherhood keeps selling her 200 spikes every time I go him. Never been able to repeat it on other characters so I assume it's a bug of some kind, but hey I'm not complaining about a bug like that, that's epic. lol But yea a private world would be awesome. Explore the world of West Virgina without threat of other players and go hunting all the monsters, plus who knows what mods will add to a private world experience. So yea, a private world is most certainly useful.
But as I said before sure the game might turn out to be crap, and if so I won't buy any further Fallout games that is online focused. But since this is the first online Fallout game and a experience I've never had, I'm not going to automatically write it off because of online. I do want to try it and see how it turns out.

give it a chance maybe first before passing such harsh judgement? - also, there is now a fallout 76 thread under "general games".

But what if GTAO got a huge addition? What would you want? I used to think a new map and some big additions might cut it, but now I am not so sure. That reminded me of that leak which predicted a lot of things right. It also said that Liberty City was supposed to come to GTA Online for a few bucks. Turns out that that (obviously) never happened

Seems there are 3 variations of super mutants, those created by the master, those tested on by the Institute, and those tested on by the government.
Sounds to me like the Fallout 3 super mutants could of existed at the time of Fallout 76, as, at least according to this this, they've existed and had been kidnapping people long before the Brotherhood found and documented them. And if they are only a weeks worth or so travel time away from West Virgina, that's not to far at all.
I haven't played Fallout 1 and 2, but I assume those games set up super mutants created by the master as the only ones. But Fallout 3 and 4 seems to have changed the lore. Looks like in Fallout 1 and 2 the master's version of the super mutants was the only known at the time, but it looks like indeed others could of existed.
And like the guy also said, Betheda owns the games now, maybe they just make up a new lore for Fallout 76 super mutants. Who knows.
I'd just like to get your thoughts, on this guys thoughts. lol

I agree with the updates but the thing is GTAO is starting to feel really lonely for me now. Every time I buy something expensive, there is no one I can share it to which makes me look at myself and think my I'm playing the game. The racing community has really only put shine on GTAO since like the start of 2018. I remember first getting onto GTAO about a month after its release and I felt pretty good and I got caught up in trying to get the first supercar because everyone else already bought shark cards to buy the Adder. I remember when $50,000 used to be a lot of money in my context (Even though a lot of people received their money off of mods). So the old days where Rockstar gave us updates where everything was cheap seem to have deteriorate now-a-days, I always wish that we should just move back to 2013 and start a new life because everything is just rushed now.

Videogames are for having fun. If you aren't having fun in a game all of a sudden, drop it. Don't get stuck in the sunken cost fallacy, where you feel the need to keep playing something because you have done it so much. Just remember the times you did enjoy and move on if you feel.

Well said, and something I strongly believe in. Sometimes you need to throw in the towel and appreciate the memories. If GTA has taught me anything, it is that when I feel a grind, it is time to move on to something I find fun.
