Seems like every race that gets created nowadays is called a Grand Prix. What is up with that? There's an awful lot of "Grand Prices" to be given out like this, haha.
I do understand it though.. People tend to join a lot more when a race is called a Grand Prix. And that's something I really find irritating.

Yes you are right. But if you set red and white tires, barriers to get the track a "Formular 1 look" I admit the Grand Prix name. In my point of view the grad prix circuit has to be on pavement and unneeded streets have to be closed with red and white barriers. Also its very important to avoid shortcuts.

It's a silly trend... Grand Prix in italian pretty much translates to Big Event. Your track is not a "Grand Prix", some of the races hosted there could be described as a Grand Prix, but the track itself would either be considered a Circuit, a Raceway, an Autocross, a Speedway, a Ring, a Bahn, etc... There's even musical Grand Prix' happening in real life, which has nothing to do with racing. Naming everything a Grand Prix is nothing but poor semantics imo, and a lack of imagination.

That's awesome. Very curious as to what you come up with. I'll check them out if I remember.

This basically sums up my exact point. Amen brother.

I came across the topic this weekend when I looked for a name for my new track. It was made in a GT track fahsion. Nevertheless, I've come along with a more creative approach and named it Wave goodbye . I am still in doubt if GP-named tracks would be more attractive (just by seeing the job title) to racers than others. I see it is clearly an attempt of the creator to emphasize that the race track is made for the racing community, whereas a "randomly" named job could be both: professional or mainstream. I wonder how you guys start the creative process of building a track. Do you have a special name in mind right at the beginning, or do you label the job after the checkpoints etc. are done?

I personally start building a track because I come across a specific part of the giant map in GTA V that I find attractive/suitable as part of a race track. Then I build forwards by just planting checkpoints wherever I feel like, purely on my feelings, as to what I think would make a good corner. Then when the track is finished I start looking for a name. Most of the times the name just hits me. Sometimes I have to look on the map for inspiration for a name. I like the name of the track "The Valedictorian".

Haha, thanks man I've got the sequal out as well, and the track itself has been heavily updated since the version they verified ;-) Also, have my most recent Sedan track just waiting for a description to come to mind, the title will be The Valedictorienne.

Guilty of this myself. Truth is, I don't follow any type of irl racing so I don't know any of the lingo. Naming a track "Grand Prix" is the easy thing to do. I'm also not very creative when it comes to naming things.

I guess it's to give the track a formal name, for me I usually put "Raceway" or "Speedway" in my race names if I want it to be serious, although not many NoDo members have taken up offers to race on them. My other races just have random names as not a lot of thought goes into prop positioning or whatever, I just set out where the checkpoints go and that's it. One of my races is even called Rosemary Had An Accident.
