I honestly don't understand the hype for this game, don't get me wrong, it looks amazing but everyone makes this game seem like the Jesus of the racing genre when its not. If anything its just another racing simulator with much more fancy graphics. Someone please explain why this game is overrated?

Someone please explain why this game is overrated? because there is no other pure racing game released on the PS4 wich deserves to talk about. Drive club? forget it. The Crew? sweet try but nothing more than a bad NfS the run. Project Cars really looks like a better Grand Turismo in my opinion. My problem with Grand Turismo is the Japanese Sega Dreamcast atmosphere all the time....

The absolute main reason why the hype is completely justified is because the development has been crowd funded. It's even in the title. It stands for 'Project Community Assisted Racing Simulator'. And no I'm not making that up, do a google search and you will find it. The dev team not only raised the funds themselves but also sought funding for the game from the community. They even allowed certain aspects of creation from the community that helped raise funds such as content creation/idea generation and valuable feedback from these members. This is a dev team that actually cares about the product they release. They previously released Need for Speed games un EA's publishing and that kinda sums it up. They were feed up with the demands of money hungry publishers that only cared about profit so they decided to go their own route and develop and publish the game themselves.
So long story short...the dev team actually cares about making a high quality product.

Project Cars just doesn't excite me, and the fact that they made the livery editor a PC exclusive thing kinda pisses me off. If Forza can do it on Xbox why can't Project Cars do it aswell. I may buy it but I'll wait and see what other people say about it.

There isn't a livery editor its done the same way you would have to do in rfactor or gtr 2. to create liveries you have to download the 2d model and then make one on photoshop. while there may not be a livery editor there at least 10 liveries for each car. most have around 15 and some have even more. Excluding car like the mclaren gt3 where the liveries had to be real and the dtm merc where you can't have a racing liveries otherwise a dtm licenses is needed all liveries have been made and voted in by the community.
