Race Time:
Open: 3pm UTC
Semi-Pro: 5pm UTC
Pro: 7pm UTC
Race Lengths:
Open: 50min
Semi-Pro: 80min
Pro: 80min

If you whine and complain about rules you can be offered a full refund. (Get it? its a free event..) However, constructive feedback is welcome.
Commitment to a long event seems to be everyone's greatest fear these days. That's why most drivers are encouraged to view this championship as if it is 10 individual events. Each round is a strong event in its own right with a great new track. There will be plenty of space for occasional participation for those who aren't committing to every round. It doesn't have to be an all or nothing attitude of past tournaments, hop in and enjoy! Only a small handful have a chance at championship podium anyway. Look at it as real life racing.. a top 10 or a podium in an individual round is heckin huge.
Cars:
The community of racers' ability has gone up substantially since last season, so the new circuits will answer the call with significantly increased difficulty. However, to become a true champion, one must master all terrains as well as car handling styles. Therefore, there will not be concurrent separately scored LMP1 & LMP2 classes. All racers will do five races in LMP1's Truffade Nero Custom and five races in LMP2's Grotti Cheetah. This also allows the tracks to be tailor tuned to the car precisely.
-The following car restriction rules won't necessarily be actively enforced in Open but championship drivers would be wise to keep to them so it reflects an accurate practice.
-If there is a testing discovery of a wheel outside the given balance restrictions please bring it to my attention so I can add it to the banned wheel lists.
Nero Custom:
-Neros may have no external carbon fiber panels except for engine block cover. ie: no carbon hood, roof etc
-All neros should have interior>dash>one of the 2 race interiors (this is the only rule that doesnt incur a penalty if breaking it, its for youtube reasons)
-(Spoiler alert) Neros can have any spoiler
-Neros must follow the art themes of your team described in the team section below
-If not listed in these car rules, then its generally permitted (any suspension etc)
-Changes to the car within the permitted variation categories can be done race to race
Wheels
-You can change wheels between races
-Neros may have any High End, Sport, or Tuner that does not have a front traction bias greater than x1.5
-In other words, Neros may have any High End, Sport or Tuner EXCEPT the following:
Banned Nero Wheels:
Solar (High End)
Endo v.2 Dish (Tuner)
Zokusha (Tuner)
Stock (any)
Since some are wondering, DrKloden Recommends™: Cosmos (Tuner)
Cheetah:
-(Spoiler alert) Cheetahs can have any spoiler
-Cheetahs must follow the art themes of your team described in the team section below.
-If not listed in these car rules, then its generally permitted (any suspension etc)
-Changes to the car within the permitted variation categories can be done race to race
Wheels
-You can change wheels between races
-Cheetahs may have any High End, Sport or Tuner that does not have a rear traction bias greater than x2.0
-In other words, Cheetahs may have any High End, Sport, or Tuner EXCEPT the following:
Banned Cheetah Wheels:
Inferno (Sport)
Choku-Dori (Tuner)
Chicane (Tuner)
Dished Eight (Tuner)
Fujiwara (Tuner)
Stock (any)
DrKloden Recommends™ 1) Rally Master (Tuner) for an aggressive stance enabling you to fold the car around sharp corners, but if the car feels ungrounded on the track according to your style, then DrKloden Recommends™ 2) Saisoku (Tuner) for a balanced, reliable, lower-choke-risk drive. Please consult the biggest setup nerd you know.
DrKloden will not hesitate to hand out penalties for violations, including but not limited to massive grid penalties.
Communication & Audio:
-All drivers must connect to the race voice chat channel on the Le Mans Discord before the race.
-Mics are not required
-Streamers are welcome to mute voice chat for the remainder of the race immediately after hearing DrKloden say "sticky start is sometime after x:xx"
-If streamers have music playing, their audio won't be able to be included in the quad stream youtube production.
-During the race, in-game text chat is limited to pit notification and "my bad?", and any in-game text chat beyond this during the race may be penalized.
-During the race in voice chat, please do not share what you had for breakfast. You should try to keep benign, irrelevant chatter to a relative minimum that does not directly involve the racing taking place, especially towards the beginning of a race.
-Drivers are permitted to receive and follow advice from people outside the race, for example, streamers being fed pit strategy is fine.
Start Procedures:
Pre-lobby: 15min before each race
Open: 3pm UTC
Semi-Pro: 5pm UTC
Pro: 7pm UTC
-Pre-lobby: The police have magical guns that shoot grid penalties rather than bullets.
-There will be no qualifying for start positions.
-Start position for most of the races will be random equalized (same average start position overall) for signed full time drivers.
-Unsigned drivers may be used to fill gaps or otherwise have a variety of unequalized start positions.
-Some races may have other start position methods, including but not limited to reverse championship standings order for easy to overtake tracks or championship standings order for difficult to overtake tracks or maybe if the podium is very close towards end of the championship etc.
-Grid penalties are added to your otherwise assigned start position.
-If grid penalties send you beyond the back of the grid, the remaining penalty will overflow to the next round until completed.
-The race starting grid will use every other spot of one side of the grid props as seen in the above image. If you have no idea what's going on during gridding it's because you didnt read this, and being a dunce can incur grid penalties. All tracks will have this tucked away somewhere, with 4 of the props in a row in order to fit a full 30 driver grid spread out this far.
-Either side may be used depending on the track. (obstructions may vary)
-Put your front wheel directly on top of the yellow line.
-Significantly spread out grids such as this have been hugely successful to eliminate first corner incidents in past DrKloden events.
-Gridding should be done as fast as possible, like 4 minutes, not 10 minutes. Please dont stare into space while your name is being called out to line up.
Pit Stops
-The entrance to the pit lane will be similar to this image on every track on the calendar, a gate with wrenches on top of it.
-All drivers must do 2 pits.
-Drive thru style pits, no stop and wait.
-The path of the pit lane will generally be long, resembling a joker lap, so practicing it before race day is necessary.
-Cutting the intended pit path can incur severe penalties.
-It is encouraged to throw molotovs in front of your car before getting a wrench. Extra molotovs will be provided near the beginning of the pit lane.
-If a car is very close by to you when you'd like to enter the pits, either back off or warn them or both.
-Upon exiting the pits a siren will go off warning others that a car is re-entering the track. (However, cars on track have the right of way)
-Pit window will open on lap 3 of every race but closing can vary track to track.
General Racecraft Rules
-Curb boosting including rapidly repeated curb boosting is permitted, but darting across the track when someone is on your bumper is considered reckless driving.
-Track limits: You have may have all 4 wheels in the dirt at the same time. If you discover a bizarre or unsafe track cut please bring it to my attention before race day.
-Short shifting is permitted
-Brake boosting is permitted
-Race in-game time and weather may vary race to race
-For leading drivers with a high chance of lapping other cars, this horn is recommended but not required as it is arguably louder than others to warn of impending blue flag situations.
-Blue flag rule is in effect. Effecting the lap time of a high position driver can incur penalties.
-It is highly encouraged to use the Expanded Radar. This will improve your spatial awareness of drivers behind you.
-For current time races, lights have been added to apexes that dont have street lamps. However, as seen above, you should confirm that your distance scaling is up in order for the light to be lit up from a significantly further distance.
60 fps
-Usage of precisely 60fps is required. Using a frame limiting method other than in-game vsync is recommended due to input lag.
-Fluctuating fps lower than 60 due to potato computer wont be penalized but it is encouraged to go full potato on your graphics to try and avoid this. It is possible to lower graphics even lower than the settings menu allow by editing a text file, such as turning shadows and reflections completely off and having the game look like GTA 3.
-Rivatuner and Dxtory are the top 2 recommended frame limiting methods.
-It has been brought to my attention that 59 fps may be faster than 60 within certain in-game parameters, dependent on track, car, and drive style (excessive boosting). This can have, astonishingly, a several second difference on a boost heavy track such as Vespucci.
-It's been brought to my attention there's a decent chance some people may be tempted to flirt and skirt the rules, therefor it looks like I may or may not need to do some level of enforcement. I think I may have to ask Pro drivers to have their fps locking software display the fps on screen, and I will ask a random person at a random time in any given race to take an immediate screenshot, and submit it immediately after the race. This is the equivalent of a random surprise drug test. If you fear of fluctuating fps during your screenshot that could theoretically land on 59 accidentally, then take 2 to 3 of them, but spread over a 15 second period of time to prevent your PC from locking up. Failure to comply will result in penalties, for example a 40 position grid penalty or worse. Stream evidence doesnt suffice because it's quite easy to preplan an overlay in OBS showing a fake fps, but submitting a screenshot immediately after a race from a specific time during the race doesnt afford a chance to photoshop. This "random drug test" will be done as rarely, and increasingly rarely as reasonably possible so as to not be super annoying, or ideally phase it out. Let's work together here guys.
Professionalism
Let’s talk about Sandbox Racing for a moment. I don’t know if I was the one who coined the term or not but let's go with it. Sandbox Racing is I believe a sub-genre of racing games, where the majority of racing is done on user-created circuits. While GTA V isn’t necessarily the first sandbox racer, it is certainly the first big one if we're talking in terms of "serious" racing, and in the grand scheme of things far in the future it could be looked at as the birthplace of the genre. We may be pioneers and not know it. At some point in the future, hopefully soon, there will be a sim racer with a compelling consumer track creator. Imagine if you will the racing community of F1 20XX and other sims, tired of the same 20 tracks, fall in love with a sim with a proper creator. We have the experience and know how to produce compelling user created competitive racing circuits while they’ll be new to it. The top 15 most talented non-stunt, competitive track creators of GTA V (all of which are within our handful of communities here) could potentially have a fan base 20+ times higher than theyre used to in this situation. Then the in-game online “championship builder” feature in the sim wouldnt be just the same the same old thing, it would actually mean something. What I’m getting at (and this may be too optimistic as the racing genre is a fingernail size of shooters) is that we could be pioneers unawares and our communities could substantially flourish down the line where we would be in a major position of leading.
While esports is not viewed by the general public, it's certainly something serious and significant to people who play those games. This phenomenon is seen in some sports too, where, although the sport itself is awesome, it’s unfortunately only watched by people who also play the sport themselves, for whatever reason. Cycling is this way, which is my background. But this doesnt make it any less professional or competitive than big ball-related TV sports. In fact, the top cyclists are arguably far more dedicated to their craft than the biggest budgeted american football or basketball players. Strict sleep schedules, weighing everything they eat, obsessing over hundreds of microscopic improvements knowing they excitingly accumulate to a total 1.5% improvement or what have you. What I’m saying is, the best of us aren't slouches, and if the racing genre were as big as shooters, many of us reading this whether creator or podium contender would have this as a full time career. So act like it. Maybe there’s an argument to be made to be a little more professional, if sandbox racing is going to have a strong presence in racing in the future.
On the contrary, there’s unfortunately no shortage of racers who have exemplary talent on the track but are behaviorally significantly unprofessional and unpleasant. As seen in popular sports time and time again, an unlikable person being in the position of winning is damaging to the entire sport. And to answer this, many privately owned leagues of these sports recognize that at the end of the day, theyre entertainers, and that its not a pure meritocracy. It’s a meritocracy metered by also being likable. I have no hesitation to add more to the list of muted drivers and a few are on thin ice.
Hey dude where's my trailer?
All of DrKloden's video production efforts have been funneled into making high production quad-stream race recap videos, which will include premium intro segments. Imagine the british lady saying your name.

The incident rate in a typical playlist race is arguably higher now than a year ago or two years ago. Drivers have become more careless. DrKloden's Le Mans World Championship in the past has been one of the safest, cleanest, and fairest events of all time. After 12 hrs of racing in last season's pro bracket and 12 hrs of racing in the semi-pro bracket, the total incidents were but a handful.. an astonishing rate. I intend to do whatever it takes for this to continue.

And to answer this, many privately owned leagues of these sports recognize that at the end of the day, theyre entertainers, and that its not a pure meritocracy. It’s a meritocracy metered by also being likable. I have no hesitation to add more to the list of muted drivers and a few are on thin ice.

If iFruit drivers individually test and deem this to be of a personal disadvantage according to their driving style, then usage of one of the many metallic grays can be negotiated.
