The title speaks for itself.
What I like on it is: Characters, they were funny Cars, In this game you feel the car, it looks real Physics, everyone complain about this, I do too, but, it's too awesome for me to dislike it.. Crouch, why the fuck you can't crouch in GTA V? This new animation to sneak up behind people is useless in GTA Online Cars, when you leave a car in GTA V, you can't just let it on.. On GTA IV you could either exit the car leaving it on or leaving it off Graphics, yes, GTA V is better in these terms. But, the graphics fits the character, a lot Drunk, when you get drunk in GTA IV, prepare to laugh, a lot.. In GTA V, ehh.. Not so much Radio Station, it is easier to turn that thing off. And the Vladiovostok is the best radio station I ever heard(until the other two GTA IV)
Things I hate most is: The port for PC, seriously, I can't run this shit in my PC because of Windows 8, and I think it's because this shitty port.. Map, The map is small as fuck, there is no place for you to go on rally mode.. But, it's New York, so.. Characters(friends), they call you every fucking time in the game(Roman), and if you don't answer or hang up, they start to dislike you.. Guns, there is not too much when the thing is guns Car customization, do I have to speak about this? The "DLCs", TLAD and TBOGT is a GTA IV with less thing to do, a "downgrade". But least you get rainbows sticking out of your ass in TBOGT Radio Stations, in TBOGT all radio stations basically plays only pop.
What's yours?

I liked the story. That's the only thing I played from IV From what I remember, I hated the driving mechanics.

Like: I loved the racing modes that we don't have in V nowadays. There was a mode called Cannonball-Race where you'd have some 5 checkpoints spread across the city and you were to find the shortest/quickest route to win. The order of collecting the CPs was arbitrary, so apart from the racing stuff, you really had to know the streets of LC and navigate through the city as you drove. Another "race" mode was just a race from A to B, but everyone would start on foot. It was great fun to see who's gonna be first in a vehicle. You had to manage the tradeoff between getting a ride as quick as possible and looking out for the real quick ones. You know, it was literally possible to win in a bus if you got lucky finding one early. Technically, you could also win just running across the city Plus, the end points were placed in ridiculous locations, like on top of a construction site, hidden in a backalley, etc. So even if you were to be the first NEAR the finish, you'd still have to find a ladder to the rooftop, the hidden entrance,... I'd love to do sth similar to the triathlon mode that came with TBOGT. You'd first parachute to a collection of boats, run on water to a certain destination and finally have a race in cars. My perfect triathlon today would be parachuting from Mt. Chilliad to the Alamo Sea, cross it leading south and finally have a checkpoint race from Sandy Shores to LS Dockyard. We can't do all that today even using the editor, because the checkpoints have to be collected in a certain order. Dislike: Not much at all, perhaps the friend phone calls, ...

Never played online, but I liked the story a lot. I also liked the significant upgrade from GTA San Andreas. The driving physics from what I remember were better than GTA's of old, but I have not played it since 2010 or so.
I hated getting called by your "friends". Also I hated the transition from all you could do in San Andreas to almost nothing in GTAIV EX skydiving, stealing train, use of planes, and no car customization.

Well.. It's impossible to find someone online on the 360 (TBOGT and TLAD) I don't know about GTA IV with Niko... But I remember even when GTA V was in development, that it was hard to find people to play.

Like:
Online free mode. You would always, ALWAYS end up at the airport. Guaranteed. Hijinks ensue. Variety of game modes. Cops vs Crooks, Chopper vs Chopper, free race, cannonball run, etc. Why can't we have this in GTAO?!? As a whole, the city from a ground level seemed a lot more buzzing. Traffic as I recall seemed much denser than that of GTA V, where even Downtown LS can be almost empty during the day. The races as a whole were fun. Me and a friend used to replay Stars In Your Eyes and Horse Punch dozens of times each session. Plus you had a greater variety of vehicle classes. Fire engine races, ice cream van races, and a greater definition of classes altogether.
Dislike:
The lobby system. God damn, that lobby system was awful. Remember all those options they gave you when setting up a free roam lobby? Remember how the majority of them were always greyed out, and you never knew how to change them? Grey. Obviously NYC is a concrete jungle and GTA IV represented that well, but, sandwiched in between GTA: SA and GTA Vs two visualisations of San Andreas, Liberty City was very plain in terms of map design. More grey.

Like: stories, characters, The Journey, playing the bank robbery missions for the very first time, that overall gloomy atmosphere. Even the sound effects in the menus are evocative to me. I loved the previous GTA games but 4 was the first one where I felt truly immersed in a city, as if its residents would continue living and going about their routines when I switched off. Previous games were very detailed and expansive cartoons, this one felt like a part of the real world.
Dislike: It's unfair to compare it to V since it came out years before so I'm not going to say things like the lack of owned cars, properties, etc. However it severely lacking boats and aircraft. Also the blurriness of its graphics on console, the friend missions and RPG-lite stats.

The story and the swing glitch were my favourite. Your friends phoning you all the time was annoying.

I think GTA IV took character development and story telling in an open world enviroment to a new level. That's what I love about GTA IV. Eventhough GTA V is, in my opinion, far superior gameplay wise I much prefer the story of GTA IV, it's probably the best in the series.
My dislikes of GTA IV was the stripped down approach they went with. San Andreas just felt more fun to me, so much more to do and explore, I felt that element was completely missing from GTA IV. After you'd finished the story and assassination missions there wasn't really anything to do in the world. It looked more alive than GTA San Andreas but it felt way more dead to me.
Other than that I can sum up my biggest annoyance with GTA IV in one sentence: "Cousin, let's go bowling!"
