How do you define yourself as a gamer? In this Thread, I'd like to get the NODO community to vote on how they consider themselves a gamer. Leave a vote and comment a description on why you feel that you fall into the category you pick. You can also provide a back story if you'd like to. To keep things as simple as possible, I've narrowed it down to 4 options, which I will now explain very briefly:
Casual -You enjoy video games, but they're not your entire world. Every now and again you'll play, but you won't do long projects or extremely long sessions.
Hardcore -If there's a game out, you've played it. You know all the shortcuts/secret areas/Easter eggs. You play video games almost every day - every day for a long while.
Achievement/Trophy Hunter -Whenever you do play games, you want to 100% them and unlock everything. You enjoy the story a game tells and have a lot of fun playing them.
Combination -You're a mix of 2/3 of these things. Give us an explanation how you'd fall into this category.

Personally, I consider myself a mix of a casual player and a bit of a completionist (if that can be considered a word). Allow me to elaborate. I love video games. When I was a young lad, video games were, basically, all that I had. I'm an only child and live in bum-f***ing nowhere. If I want to go anywhere, I have to drive to get there. So, basically until I turned 16.5 and got my drivers license, I very rarely got to go anywhere and do much with people. Now that I'm a grown-ass man (not really, I just really like saying that), games have taken a back seat for me. They're fun to play and I complete them and play them for the story and to have fun. However, I basically live at work nowadays. One week I may put in 20 hours overtime, another week only 10 hours OT. When I get home from work, I just want to relax by playing games for a bit and heading to bed. My days off consist of getting caught up on boring real life stuff and whatever time I can put into video games.

Out of that list and descriptions I'm a Casual.
I play lots of games, but I'm not as serious as I used to be when I was a teenager. These days I much prefer just having a chilled, relaxing bit of fun or engaging in its story or atmosphere than being ultra competitive and learning every pixel.
I do like to get the most out of my games though. If there's lots to do I'll try my best to do do all of it.

Casual definitely. GTAO is the only game I've spent a significant time on in the past few years, and one of only two games I've played in over a year. To be fair, I've spent an obnoxious amount of time playing it.

Mix of Hardcore and Achievement Whore (that's what I call it)! : )
Hardcore because I pretty much spend every day playing games when I'm on breaks from school. When I'm in school, that comes first. Still, I will play them more often than I should.... HOWEVER, I refuse to get on games after 1AM now. This is a somewhat new rule for myself, but I usually get bored at around 10PM. This developed from the days when I played Runescape ( 2007-2011 ) Those were my most active years but I've pretty much officially ended that account in 2013. Anyways, I would play that game for like 16-18 hours a day during the Summer (definitely not during school). This became a habit I guess and has now gone into my console gaming although I don't play for as long since they aren't as addicting as Runescape was to me (I've got almost 9000 hours worth of playtime in just Runescape)...
Achievement whore applies because I try and get as many achievements as I can for some games. Especially ones I like a lot. However I don't buy many DLCs because money is annoying, so those are usually where the achievements I don't have are.

I'm casual. I don't like playing several games and atm I just play GTA whenever I get the chance, so in that way Im a hardcore GTa addict. I do play more often than I should, tho. Going to change that from this very moment.

I would put myself in all of these categories because when I play video games, that's all I want to do....all week long....until I'm interested in a new phase xP Best games I have ever played are Prototype 2, and the Assassins Creed series. IMO. AC-2, Brotherhood, Revelations, Rogue, Black Flag, & 3, were the best....Unity isn't good enough.

I'm a casual for game variety and skill, and hardcore for time spent in game. While I'm no good at the games I play, I have clocked an ungodly amount of hours on series like Burnout, Just Cause, CoD, AC and GTA. I think those five franchises alone have laid claim to +3800 hours of my life.

I would say I have at least 5000 hours. In Camaro Club that I used to be in, we had a couple big racing series - Trans Am racing on Grand Turismo 5 (identical to the real life-still to this day series) Tuning cars, practicing, racedays, multi-class races "Dirty Racing" in which consisted in 200 lap races once or twic a week Occasional Rally Series Events -tuning multiple cars, practicing tracks etc. Not to mention all the time it takes to complete/explore maps in Assassins Creed games....good god

Casual gamer. I play a couple games and usually play the crap out of them. I have my faves and wish I could try out some other games, but I'm too busy to really dedicate anymore time to other games... GTA4lyf.

I'd say I'm more of a casual gamer, but every now and then I'll have a fairly long session of gaming when I feel like it.

I'd say 85% hardcore, 15% casual. I play games A LOT. In fact, when left to my own devices (no work or wife away) I'm going to play games all day/night. If I'm not playing games, I'm most likely on a gaming news website reading about new ones. However, I don't buy every game that comes out. I'm pretty selective about where I dump all of my time.

I'm more of a casual gamer because I usually don't game on workdays, but when I do really like a game (like the last of us or gta 5) I will completely play the shit out of it when possible.
