Hello everyone, I bring this topic to the board as I've thought about this idea for awhile. Being some NODO races are already set to "GTA" style races, so pit lanes may be used, how about adding boost? Now, I'm not suggesting to place boost everywhere and place jumps as well, but only place it on the starting line. Place a few boost pickups on the Start/Finish line in a single line, stretching across it, which ensures drivers will only be able to pickup one pickup per lap. Every lap, new pickups will spawn. Now, how this works is very similar to Indycar's "Push to pass" or Formula One's old system of "KERS". Every driver will be able to pick up and use one "boost" per lap. They can use this to overtake, defend, help create a gap to the car behind, or make up for a poor line. This is not a one-way street, as everyone has the opportunity to use it. If, per say, driver 1 is leading into the first corner, and driver 2 is right behind. Driver 2 can use the "boost" to overtake driver 1, however, driver 1 can use his "boost" to defend the attack. I feel this could spice things up, and add a bit of strategy, thoughts?

Hehe thats actually an interesting idea. Its probably more suited to an event rather regular NoDo playlists but I'm guessing thats what you're driving at. An F1 style playlist event incorporating this idea could be interesting, maybe using Turismos only just as a thought

However, I was hoping this could get phased in racing, as the pit lane idea did (Sort of). As I notice that in playlists or even single events, GTA races are appearing more. But it only works with all NODO members.

This would add an additional facet to racing which would be fun. I do not think it should be used constantly though. Certainly not counted for hot lapping either. Although that is not very prevalent right now.

I like it! Mainly because it would provide me with extra speed in which to ram parksguard from behind and inflict as much aids as possible.

I've thought of something similar in the past but with DRS in the same way it is used in F1 which could never be policed so dismissed it as quick as I thought of it.
But the idea of KERS and everyone can use it as and when they like once per lap, it can only be a good thing adding extra strategy

Sounds cool, how can we assure last grid positions can pickup one as well?

Sounds cool, how can we assure last grid positions can pickup one as well? Place 16 pickups in a line that makes up the Start/Finish line. That way there will be 16 pickups for 16 cars. On the PS4 and Xbox One, just place 20 or so pickups.

^^ I think he means in a line across the track, where the start/finish line would be. IMO, I think you need 16 pick-ups on PS3 & XB360, while on PS4 & XBONE you'll need the full 30 if possible. Not fair to penalise a driver just because they were given a shit grid slot. It'll just disadvantage them even more if they can't get a pick-up too.

Then the people behind will still be penalised because they'll have to go off the racing line just to get the boost, besides Im not even sure if you can fit 16 boosts width ways on a track.

It depends on the track. I feel on the first lap, if cars were scattering around trying to get the pickups, could spread the field out a bit. That way the first corner wouldn't be a clustered mess.

If there is a 30 car grid, it's going to be on a long straight. That's just how content creator works. There will be no off-line. The cars at the back will simply move left or right a little bit to pick up the boost. Also, I've never played with the GTA pick-ups in the creator, so I don't know how many pick-ups you can fit in a small area or how far apart they need to be from each other, But I've seen a few created races where the pick-ups are bunched fairly close to each other. Maybe 3 rows of 10 pick-ups would work across a wide track. From a birds eye view, it would look sort of like this. l l l l l l l = edge of track l l x = boost pick-up l x x x x x x x x x x l l x x x x x x x x x x l l x x x x x x x x x x l l l l l l l l l I know the repair pick-ups (the spanners) can be bunched together, but I'm not sure about the boosts etc. I might have a play around in the creator later, because I like the concept & would love to see it in action.

I was going to use something like this:
l l l l l l l l l x x x x x x x l l x x x x x x x l l l l l l l l l l l
That way, weaving to get more pickups might even make you spin out.
