So i just thought i would put this PSA out that currently the insurance system is bugged. Meaning that cars even if they say fully insured (including website bought cars) will not be claimable from MMI. This bug seems to happen ay random and may or may not affect you. If this does happen here is some tips and solutions
DO NOT REPLACE THE CAR THAT IS DESTROYED!!!! That is if you want hope of getting it back. Instead contact rockstar support. If the car is destroyed in the mechanic listing rockstar can recover the vehicle for you. I have seen many support threads to support this.
Contacting support is the best bet to have a car replaced. Replacing the destroyed car will hinder your attempts to get a replacement recovery or compensation for the bug.

Can confirm. My very first car what I could modify from Simeon couldn't be claimed as well: it was an Ubermacht Zion coupe. Back in the day I thought "well let's replace it" so I got an cabrio Zion and I didn't insure it since that wouldn't help anyway. It took 4 minutes before someone drove it away, and destroyed it when I locked it to passengers.

I know, but the first Zion was ensured and couldn't be claimed. I just called Morris Mutual and nothing happend.
I was new with gta online but I'm quite sure I was able to claim my car if it wouldnt be bugged.

Ah i see i misunderstood yes if the car is insures you SHOULD be able to claim it. Unfortunately there is this random bug that may or may not happen

Fuck. I lost my custom blista in a tank game, and thought for sure I'd forgotten to insure it after trying MMI for 2 days. Bought a new one in the old one's garage spot.

which consoles are affected? All i think but can only confirm X1 and PS4. So remember if a car you had insured gets destroyed and MMI wont pick up beep it and contact rockstar. If you did already replace the car you can try to get GTA $ compensation but tou must know the time and date the issue happened and usually they want proof pictures of the car you had with the mods |

A car of mine was blown up yesterday on PS4. Roughly 9 hours ago and MMI replaced it. Nonetheless I will probably be in passive mode as well as invite only sessions for a while as a result of this scare.

Confirmed on ps3. Last week when I was in a contact mission, some random bummer destroyed my Zion cabrio, and I haven't been able to recover it (Mechanic says it is destroyed, every time I log in to game a pop up says I can call MMI to recover my car). So now I never exit my cars from garage by no means (unless I trust the people I am with).

So....basically I'll be riding my Sanchez around in freemode until this is fixed. Not risking losing anything expensive. Thanks for the heads up about this!

This happened to me almost a year ago with a Feltzer, I contacted R* but they didn't respond to me and I had to replace it with a new one. Great way to flush some 300K down the toilet.

Ah yes the old slot 1 lost insurance bug. This is the same thing but not limited to slot 1. Luckily i have never had these glitches befall me. I take pity on those affected by Rockstar and thier incompetent coders |
