Ok, qualification lap leaderboard is now CLOSED no new fastest laps will be accepted.
So, let's run through the start procedure for the race because I want to get started as quickly as possible after launching the race.
Pre-lobby will start Tomorrow at 5pm UTC - so 5pm by the clock at the top of the forum. That is 6pm UK time and I'm sure you all know what time it is where you are. The race itself will begin at 5:30pm UTC. So we'll be having a 30 minute pre-lobby. During the pre-lobby we will be having a meetup in our event cars in the parking lot of the Observatory. I would like to enforce strict rules on pre-lobby craziness. No bringing cops to the meetup place, no killing each other and blowing up cars. If you're bored waiting for the lobby to fill up, park your event car at the Observatory and drive off somewhere else to have fun. As long as the meetup place is left quiet and clean, I don't care what you do in other areas of the map.
So, for the start itself. At the start of the race we are going to arrange ourselves into a SINGLE FILE line in order of our qualification laps. Having a mic will help but I realise not everyone has one so if you don't have a mic, please ensure you have chat enabled so you can hear everyone else talking.
So we are going to line up one-by-one in the following positions according to qualification laptimes
1. del (Massacro RC) 2. Duchartre (Massacro) 3. damsaw22™ (Adam) (Feltzer) 4. JamieJones77 (9F) 5. cloudmcshort (Jester) 6. Arcmauster (Jester RC) 7. Alex_Drastisch (Surano) 8. fox4flame (Elegy) 9. cajman (Carbonizzare) 10. @hiberg (Banshee) 11. Dim (Coquette) 12. marklyell (Sultan) 13. katenhond2010 (Kuruma) 14. JS_90 (Alpha) 15. seanifferson (Fusilade) 16. craig (Comet)
So, when the race starts we will arrange ourselves into these positions, based on the list above in single file. So this means Deliriousmind will be at the front with Duchartre directly behind him and all other cars directly behind the guy in front of them. It's basically going to be a car train.
Once we're in position and lined up, del at the front of the pack will lead us in a slow formation following the red line in the following route:
As you can see from the map, the red line takes us down the main straight and round the first corner. We are going to be following the red line SLOWLY AND IN FORMATION - ABSOLUTELY NO OVERTAKING IS ALLOWED DURING THIS PART OF THE FIRST LAP.
The BLUE line on the map indicates where you are allowed to start racing. This is indicated on the track itself by a Zebra Crossing, once the nose of your car hits the Zebra crossing, you are free to floor it and start racing. As the car in pole position, del will be the first car to hit the Zebra crossing. Remember, you can only go when YOUR car hits the zebra crossing, until then you must stay in formation. It means the guy in front of you is going to go a little bit before you again, you don't floor it when you see the guy in front of you go, you floor it when you reach the zebra crossing.
Now, there are no explicit rules during the race itself but here are a few suggestions which should help keep things relatively crash free.
*-Keep your eyes on the minimap at both points where the tracks merge. This is at the entrance to the tunnel and at the bottom of the observatory hill at the end of a lap. Whenever you are in these areas, make sure you're aware of any other cars hitting the same part of the track on a different part of the lap.
*-If you're entering the tunnel for the first time on a lap and a faster car than you is entering behind you on their second entrance to the tunnel, keep right and take the corner at the end of the tunnel on the inside, this will prevent incidents in the tunnel.
*-When going down the start finish straight to start a new lap, take the left hand lane and when going down the straight in the middle of a lap, take the right hand lane.
Again, those are not rules that you must stick to, just suggestions for anyone who isn't overly familiar with the track.
The reason this post is so long and detailed is purely because I want us all to understand everything so that tomorrow we can just get into it quickly without messing around and have fun.
The race will last just under 1 hour and will be 18 laps. If we get delayed too much, I will reduce the lap count.
Thanks everyone for such an awesome and enthusiastic response to this event, I'll see you all out there tomorrow.
Anything you're still unsure of, just let me know. Cheers.
