I am relatively new to the content creator scene and wanted to add chicanes to my races. However, I don't know what to look out for. If this was discussed in another thread, please point me to it but I just wanted to know if there is anything I need to know such as blind corners, etc.

I'm no expert either but I find the chicanes in Sunabouza Grand Prix to be great. I think it would be a good starting point to learn

Chicanes makes tracks more technical which is good but anything technical is a choke point. I would avoid using "sticky" props on the apex of a chicane. Tyre stacks, tyre lines and tyre walls are sticky and will cause pile-ups, even more so if the chicane is tight. Broughy has a very good chicane on the old layout of LSGP at cp9. rsg.ms/6305090. He used concrete barriers placed at 90 degrees to build the apexes of the chicane. You could also glitch props together to make a rounded apex which is more forgiving when hit. The cattle feeder prop is sometimes used at the apex too as it is round in shape. The most important thing is to not make the chicane too tight.

Everything said on the prev posts is right, and Ill add another detail: On many "amateur" custom tracks with chicanes, the chicane is not pronunciated enough and can be cut pretty much straight if you take it right, which is something you should avoid .

I can do that on Seed Circuit with the right amount of throttle control..

When creating chiganes it is important to check the surroundings. Where do you want to place your chigane is important. Try to take advantage of the surroundings. Also your prop angles are crucial too. Always try to stick out one or two props of the first so, approaching would have to slow down. What Guille said is very true. It's most likely there is a way to just go through or get around it when it comes to chiganes. If you decide to add a chigane look at it from all possible angles. Also, I have a circuit called Valkryie Circuit which has a proper chigane. If you are interested have a look : fOXfLAME tracks . PS : Ishan f*** your throttle control b***h! Where was it on SUV round huh

Something most haven't mentioned is that a chicane is a feature that creates extra turns in a road. This is used to slow drivers down for safety reasons.
Obviously safety isn't a high priority for many in most video games, since everyone has infinite lives. Respawn FTL!

The minimum width for an artificial chicane is 3 car widths. Except when the approach is tighter. When that's the case, the artificial chicane should minimally have the same width as the approach has.

Hopefully one that is not patched on current version 1.26. Also, do you prefer the rounded shape or the 90 degree shape? Why?

It's up to you.

While the flick posted by Opal above works, I would say your best bet for precise and accurate prop placements is the quick-switch. As for Artificial Chicanes, one of the most important things to note when you create your own chicanes in the road like that is the choice of barriers depending on which side is facing the racer. It's very important you make it in such a way that it is easy for an approaching car to distinguish where the gap they should go through is. The safest way to do this is to use taller props in the back, and lower props in the back, or using different color schemes or alternating patterns to distinguish between the part that you're negotiating, and the back wall of the chicane. This is not equally important for chicanes that follow the natural road layout, but still recommended. Also note that artificial chicanes usually require a much larger prop allocation then regular corners to get a natural feel. So make sure you already have all the props you need for a chicane before adding one, or the rest of your track might end up feeling imbalanced and suffering from a lack of propping. Good luck

And have been since the beginning of time R* also explicitly stated in the past they have no intention of patching it, simply because of how useful it has proven to be to the Creator community.
