"Due to dissapointing results, Hookie's has a special arrangement
this summer in order to get new customers.
For as little as $200,- you'll get an exciting, but relaxing cruise to work up an appetite,
and enjoy the (almost) fresh fish, we catch ourselves every day (from the freezer)."
CONCEPT:this summer in order to get new customers.
For as little as $200,- you'll get an exciting, but relaxing cruise to work up an appetite,
and enjoy the (almost) fresh fish, we catch ourselves every day (from the freezer)."
The new Brawler isn't the fastest in it's class for racing, but it is still a lot of fun to drive around. So the idea for this event was formed.
This will NOT be about who can get to the finish first. It's all about having fun, going offroad, and test some other aspects of our vehicle of choice besides straightline speed, and some other skills besides fast cornering, so take it easy, and enjoy the views and surroundings. This event is open for everybody, regardless of skill.
TRACK:
Instead of just hitting the hills in freeroam, I made a 'race' to set out the trail. Hookie's Offroad Trail
There will be hillclimbing, rockcrawling, downhill sections, rivercrossings and dirtroad sections. Again this is not about speed, so practice is NOT necessary. It'd actually be more fun if you don't practice at all. Taking it easy, it should take roughly 45-60 minutes.
CARS:
I will test vehicles to see if it's possible to get round with them, which is what I'm aiming for. Should I come across any problems with a certain vehicle, I will post it here.
Cars I've tested so far which can make it (stock) are Bifta, Bohdi, Brawler, Dunebuggy, Insurgent, Mesa, Rebel, Sandking. If you need another vehicle tested, please let me know.
This event is not locked to the Brawler! Ideally I'd like to see a mix of all kinds of offroaders. Mesa's, Rebels, Brawlers... You can drive whatever offroad vehicle you like, with the exception of the Sanchez.
To keep some variation, there is a limit of maximum 4 of the same vehicles.
All customizations/modifications are allowed, except armor. Please keep armor at 0%
RULES:
Since it's not really a race, the racing guidelines don't really apply, but there are still a couple of rules:
-Race will be set to GTA-Mode, but NO WEAPONS ALLOWED!
-Contact will be unavoidable, but don't push eachother off the track on purpose.
-Respawning only if you really, really, really, really... (just one more, just in case) REALLY get stuck and can't get out. If someone get's stuck, help eachother out by giving a little nudge, and try to get going again that way first. Respawning should be an absolute last resort.
-Like I said, this is not a race to the finish, but a way to have some offroad fun TOGETHER. Try to keep together a bit, and don't go blasting off letting everybody eat your dust. Offcourse there will be faster sections, but there will be some slow sections just aswell.
-There will be shortcuts to get round obstacles or hard sections, but the fun is in tackeling those obstacles, or at least trying them.
If you really can't get past a specific part, there will be a way to get passed it in most cases, but you should at least try it. Don't go hunting for the easy way. Try to challenge yourself, and look for fun lines.
-Keep your 4 (or 6) wheels ON THE GROUND as much as possible. It's fun gunning it and flying of the side of a mountain, but the goal is to make it a controlled descend. (not really a hard rule, more of a pointer to keep it fun)
STARTING PROCEDURE:
There will be no special starting procedure. Just wait for the 3..2..1..GO! and we're off. But remember this is a cruise, so no boost-start and try not to pile up in the first couple of corners. Also being in 1st can be fun, but don't aim for it as a main objective.
PITTING:
At certain points there will be "Pitstops". At these points damage can be repaired. We will wait at these stops till everybody is together again before continuing. This is also to prevent people being left on their own.
FINISHING PROCEDURE:
Since it's not a race, but we'll have to finish it like one, I've come up with the following procedure.
When we get to CP 67, we'll park all our vehicles on the side between the containers and the finish. Then we will line up (on foot) next to the 2 containers, facing the finishline. When everybody is set, I'll throw a grenade. When the grenade goes off, we all run for the finish! No melée-attacks or weapons. May the best X-smasher win
EXTRA INFORMATION:
I've said it a couple of times allready, but because this is a racing crew after all: THIS IS NOT A RACE!
There will be no formation, but I would like you all to form a single line. I will lead the way initially. Ofcourse some of you will be a bit faster on the more open area's, and you might take a different line than others, so overtaking IS allowed, but don't make it a goal, and don't push eachother out of the way to get past.
Between CP 9 and CP 11, you're not supposed to use the road, (only the final corner before CP 11)
Try to keep a safe distance from eachother, but also try to keep the entire pack together a bit.
As noted in the "pitting" section, there are a couple of points where we ALL wait, till EVERYBODY is there, before continuing. These are marked with repair wrenches. At those "pitstops" you are allowed to respawn to repair your vehicle. But please only do so if it's impossible to continue with the damage.
The stops are made at (or around) CP 7, 12, 23, 30, 33, 36, 39, 44 and 58. After CP 58 (when we go under the bridge) you are allowed to go full throttle and get it out of your system, as long as you keep to the finishing procedure as described above!
Make sure (if you have a mic) to set chat to crew+friends so you can hear me if needed.
For some reason, if you have to respawn, not al CP's point in the right direction. I don't know why, but I can't correct that. So if you do have to respawn, keep an eye on your minimap.
