Hello racing junkies.
I go by the name CHILLI on most platforms but if you see "ch1ll169" or "chillichips" somewhere there's a chance you've seen me before around the internet.
At the time writing this I turned 21 less than a week ago and graduated college (high school for the US?) after 5 years. As far as I know college here in Sweden is only 3 years, so 5 might sound a little strange. Long story short, I had a weirdo mentor that didnt let me change schools until after 2 years bla bla (misery and that stuff). But then I finally got moved to a school that focuses a lot on game development and media in general. Stuff ranging from music to movies to games both involving 2D and 3D art assets, what you do is up to you.
But that's not my full background really, far from it. At least in regards to what I'm aiming to do professionaly.
Back in 2005-2006ish we finally got broadband. It was around this time that I stumbled upon modding sites for GTA 3 and a few mods for GTA VC. The first thing I spotted was a Stinger with a custom bodykit for GTA 3 and thought it looked cool so I decided to add it to my game. And that's when my artistic side sparked. "I want to make that, too!" I said to myself and started google searching like a mad man to find out how to do things like that.
My searches didnt quite find what I was expecting but I certainly got a good start. The software I started off using was Google Sketchup. Even though it's intended for architecture I insisted on making cars and a few planes with it.
Some years later, around 2011 I believe, I finally decided to try out Blender. A free and very professionaly made 3D modelling, animation and rendering program that has support for all sorts of cool stuff. But a game's art assets are rarely complete without patterns and colors, so I had to find a program that would let me create textures for my models.
After searching I found Paint.NET and luckily for me it's also free. And that's how it has been up to this day, learning and taking inspiration from the games I play. Especially the technical masterpieces that Rockstar make. Once you know what to look for games like GTA can become data overloads very quickly compared to most games.
But hey, there's more than GTA, right? Of course. I've played nearly every single racing game from Codemasters since RaceDriver GRID and Colin Mcrae: Dirt aswell as Burnout Paradise and the FlatOut games (all but FO3. FO3 is just...)
So there you have it. Some (or a lot) of info about who I am and where my main interests are. Feel free to ask me about game tech stuffs if you're interested and I'll try to answer it. Cheers!
