So I've been having this problem with my L2 and R2 buttons on my DS4 for a while now after it fell off my table one day. Basically no matter how hard I push down on them, the game doesn't register them as being pushed down all the way. For this reason I can't do burnouts in my cars and after doing straight line speed tests with friends, I'm always slower than them and never at the maximum acceleration so you can see how this is quite problematic for racing. My estimate is that when I'm pressing down all the way the game registers it at around 90% throttle. Anybody have this type of issue before and any recommendations on how to fix it?

I've had somewhat similar problems with xb1 controllers myself. I dropped mine once and now at random times it spams up on the D pad which makes it rather difficult to make designs on Forza as I can't keep any decals still. A friend of mine dropped his a couple times and now when he leaves it still, the left stick goes partly up without actually moving physically, which becomes a problem when he's afk and his character in gta and cod wanders around slowly with no purpose. I've not heard of any fixes for these kind of problems, and I'd imagine it'd have to do with all the internal junk, making it somewhat broken beyond repair. Nothing better to recommend than to buy a new controller sorry.

got this issue as well, its a known issue with the DS4 controller, need to order a new one as mine are awful. If you download InputMapper and plug your DS4 in, do a test then hold down R2 it will give you a value. Should be 255, anything below is how much less it goes down. Mine is 220, which means on a medium straight, maybe 0.2 miles, I lose like 5 seconds easily. Not racing until I get a new one

Yea I'll need to properly test it and see what value is being registered. I've ended up using a new controller and I can even feel a difference in the acceleration with the new controller. I still haven't found any solution for fixing the controller so unfortunately, I think we'll have to just use new controllers for now.

Ah, nice find! I'll try this out if my 2nd controller gets worn out too. Hopefully it doesnt come to that as I'm pretty sure these issues are more common in the earlier DS4 controllers.

My first one had a left stick problem wouldn't register directions properly.
One things for sure, the ps4 controllers suck ass in terms of reliability. Never had to replace my ps3 controller, had only one throughout its whole life time and still works.
On to my second ps4 controller now and something tells me it won't be my last.

I can't say the same about my PS3 controllers. Over the years I had it, I ended up getting a total of 3 new controllers for it. First two I got with the console had worn out springs (did not reset to neutral when you let go). One of them had minor creep forwards on the left stick. After those were deemed a lost cause (mostly because of the creep), I picked up a second batch of two, until they started randomly disconnecting from the PS3. More annoying than it sounds, especially when they only stayed connected for ~10-30 minutes at a time. Then, got a fifth one that's been serving me well since. Regardless, I'm having issues with my PS4 controllers. One of their stick pads fell off (partially due to these grippy covers that were a pain in the butt to put on), and the second one had some issues with the left stick. Now, it has issues with R2 registering literally no input, after fixing the issues with the left stick.

The most I've had as a problem with a controller... >.> <.< besides a few smashing into pieces. I had a 360 controller where its control stick for steering would do what it wanted, I'd turn to the left and the tires would either not do anything, flick, or sometimes go full lock, it was really bizarre. as for your PS4 controller, I think the mechanical parts inside are maybe just broken, it seems the newer gen console controllers are really really delicate. The other day i put my PS4 controller down, pick it up and there was a chip missing out of the trigger. blehh.

I'm also having issues with the ds4, the first controller I got can no longer fully press down R2 so I had to buy a new one. Also I really dislike the design of the controller, when you put the controller down the L2 and R2 buttons sometimes get pressed in because there is no guard around the outside of the trigger. The trigger itself is what holds the controller up instead of the plastic casing below.

I have two controllers with the same issue. Both of mine happened from first person shooters where semi auto guns destroy the trigger. Now I use the old ones for shooters and have a new one for GTA exclusively.
