Sports Classics Showdown
Date & Time: Sunday 29th November 2015, 18:00 UTCWe've had the Open Top Showdown on multiple tracks, then the Super Car Showdown on R.O.N. Raceway and last time out it was a Muscle Car Showdown on a variety of tracks again. Now it's time to really push the boat out in what could turn out to be a very interesting showdown indeed - Sports Classics on Blaine County 24h.
Track: Blaine County 24h nodo.freeforums.net/post/31659
Class: Sports Classics
Cars: Stirling GT (without spoiler), Z-Type, Pigalle, Casco, Coquette Classic, Monroe
Customs: On
Length: 1 hour
Time: Current
Weather: Clear
Meetup: 18:00 UTC (6pm UK Time) [Race to start no later than 19:00 UTC]
Car Selection
Unlike all previous showdowns this time there will be 30 participants spread across 6 cars, so just 5 people per car. As with the Muscle Car Showdown you need to sign up with an order of all six cars, from most preferred to least. When I have all participants I'll assign everyone to their number one chosen car unless there are more choices than slots available, in which case I'll draw at random. Those who don't get their first choice car will be put into their next choice assuming there is space. This will continue until everyone is assigned a car. There is no guarantee you'll get your initial car of choice (unless you choose something unpopular) though last time I think everyone got at least no worse than their second choice. Also feel free to sign up for a car you want to drive but don't own since we'll be able to swap at the start, but you would be starting at the back of the grid in that event due to inability to qualify.
Qualification
There will be a 2 lap non-contact qualifying session before the race starts (ie. warm up lap -> hot lap). Your best lap time determines the position you start on the grid.
Mandatory Pit Stops
You must complete 3 pit stops during the race. They can be at any time you want and only require you to go through the pit lane (so no stopping and waiting) but failure to complete 3 pit stops will result in disqualification from the overall classification. Video proof will be required of each pit stop via PSN share button recording (you can set it up so that there is no chance of entering the sharing menu when you start recording - see here). It's a long straight before the pit lane so should be easy to start recording before you come in. I won't be asking for all footage to be sent to me but if someone accuses you of not making both pit stops you better have the footage to prove them wrong!
Start Procedure
We'll be doing standard MCEC style starting with regards to a shorter formation lap to get into positions then using sticky bombs to start the race. For BC24 we use the yellow lines in the middle of the road as markers for where your car should be placed. Go back and watch one of the BC24 rounds of the MCEC to see that and have a look at this picture i60.tinypic.com/116khzo.png. Pole position always on the left.
Event Ethos
Just like the other showdowns this is going to be a relaxed laid back event. Nobody really cares who wins or how anyone does, and I would actively discourage people from putting in any crazy practice. It's just to use what are now perhaps less used sports classics in a fun and different format with hopefully some good racing. It should be interesting just to see how the cars match up on BC24 given the longer straights in addition to tighter twisty sections. As always with these showdowns there will be some cars that are quicker than others, but the main point is to have fun and some good racing with a variety of vehicles.
Signups
THOSE WHO ACTUALLY SHOWED UP TO THE SUPERCAR SHOWDOWN OR MUSCLE CAR SHOWDOWN ARE AUTOMATICALLY ENTERED INTO THIS EVENT IF THEY WANT TO BE. A place is essentially reserved for them since they can be relied upon to show up. If you're one of those people sign up as normal and your place is guaranteed. For anyone who wasn't in the supercar showdown (or signed up but didn't turn up) sign up as instructed and we'll wait to see how many slots are left remaining as we get closer to race day. Remember, from above, "you need to sign up with an order of all six cars, from most preferred to least."
Be sure to read the Nonchalant Dominance Racing Guidelines before signing up to any event, as these standard racing rules apply here.
