I'm unsure if I'll drive the McLaren actually. Tossing up between Audi Motorsports R8 or the #56 BMW Motorsports M3 GT. The M3 is just... it's beautiful. Lacking a little in speed relative to that Bentley V12, but in corners she just knows what to do.
We had some good fun yesterday on it. I raced the Z4 GT, went too deep into bus stop chicane at Spa and lost P1 to Pez. Undercut it back in the pits.
Also had a bot merge into me so I gave him a nudge in response and SabertoothWolF finished him off for me.
We need the AI, The Hunter. They're idiots, yes. But it's not unlike racing with randoms in GTA...
I would also love to properly unlock the RUF's potential.
Cloud, we have AI in there so you have people to beat!
The preferred class of myself, Saber and Pezby (maybe Darn and grim too) is the GT3 class, i.e. similar to SATCC. Full assists or "realistic" assists here will give you the same thing - ABS and traction, since GT3 cars have these.
My suggestion is as follows:
Pez will host the race. It will be a 24 car lobby, so us + bots. Take the BMW M3 GT or Z4 GT - these are the smoothest to drive. Change the settings to enable more front downforce, and close your brake duct to 20%. We will race with cosmetic damage only so you can't overheat and damage your brakes. I personally run at like 6.0:1 steering ratio, meaning if I turn my wheel a quarter of a revolution to the left, it's the same as on screen i.e. I want little to no steering input on my end for results in game.
Then have fun. Turn the racing line on. I have it on because I haven't turned it off, and don't always use it but it helps at first because the braking on GT3 is pretty terrible compared to the F1 I'm used to. Red is braking zone; yellow is lift and coast, and green is throttle.
Pump the brakes coming into turns rather than holding them down hard.
On the start, drop and then instantly reengage throttle to avoid wheelspin/ABS.
You're set. Come have fun with us. <3 In fact, take the BMW Motorsports livery with #55 on it, and be my 'teammate'
Whilst we're getting accustomed to the game I think Spa is a good one, though honestly - Hockenheim is also a good one. We had a great race there - Saber was driving the SLS AMG and I watched him completely fuck up the braking on the hairpin as he overtook me for first. Then as I'm about to turn in, I hear "shit shit shit" and Pezby does the same...
Actually maybe Hockenheim is a better track. Shorter laps.
