First video game I ever played[...] That man is scary. Really, it's the first thing that hit me: that sneer! This question is really for all people listing older PC titles.. What sort of controls setup did you use?I was the proud owner of a M$ Sidewinder 3d Pro during those days. Wasn't all that bad for driving; at least better than the gamepad I had at the time! ___Great Choices, Huh?___

I used to have a Sidewinder too! All those NES games make me nostalgic. I've actually been contemplating trying to pick up another NES

Still one of my favorite games of all time - FlatOut 2 (PS2, then PC), later evolved into Ultimate Carnage (PC).
NFS series - Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon. Replayed MW on PS2+PC+W/Friends about 10 times.
Test Drive Unlimited 1&2. Loved the first one during my ONLY time in a computer club. Bought the second upon release. Still have them both. I even tried out the unofficially revived servers for the first one, Project Paradise if i recall correctly.
Burnout Paradise - just an extremely fun game, played the shit out of it. I also i adopted its AZ+arrows control scheme to every racing game (until i got a USB receiver for 360 controllers).
GTA series - VS, SA, VCS, LCS on PS2. IV was the first game i installed on my first PC. V from release on 360, now PC.
Micro Machines series - Normal and Military (Genesis). Were my first competitive races against real people.

I actually still have my Sidewinder and it works quite well! It came packaged with Mechwarrior 2 (AWESOME game.. wish I still had my disc; was lost years ago). I am not generally hard on my input devices, TBH. My NES only requires the push-in-and-wiggle method to get most carts to load. The games I / my friend most often play on it are RC Pro-Am/Excitebike, and Duck Hunt Nostalgia plays a big role but overall I think that games from those days were "more fun" in general; developers didn't have as much to work with and couldn't really just "awe people" with graphics and tech, so they kinda had to make things fun if they wanted to produce a "good game". How could I have forgotten Mario Kart for N64! I never owned the title myself, didn't really need to as it was always played with friends and they had it ;) Such great times..

Modnation racers. Best. Game. Ever.
Besides that I've played Need For Speed Hot Pursuit and Burn-out Paradise.

Mechwarrior... hah. Keep the good times rolling... I'm more of a sentimentalist. My wife? Not so much...

It all started with V Rally 2 on the old PS1 Then over the years came all the WipeOut games on PS1 and one called "World's Scariest Police Chases"(not really a racing game but I liked it anyway). Burnout 3 on PS2(didn't have one) Of course WipeOut HD/Fury which is brilliant On PC then I loved Lego Racers, NfS Underground 1, 2 and Most Wanted as well as Flatout2 and Burnout Paradise. And good old ReVolt Newest additions to the list are of course GTA Online, Mad Max, Dirt Rally and some Early Access games like New Car Game/Wreckfest and Formula Fusion

Mostly old Need For Speed titles 1996 - 2002.
NFS III - Hot Pursuit, High Stakes, Porsche, II SE kicked ass.
Toca 2
Then on the PS1 with buddies we used to play Crash Bash Racing and Toon Car, not really racing games though ^^

Crash Team Racing, Gran Turismo 2-4, and Need for Speed Underground 1,2 and MW pretty much defined my childhood. Especially CTR and Gran Turismo 3, many good memories of unrealistically getting a viper to go 300+ MPH or popping a wheelie in an Escudo with 1800+HP and breaking the sound barrier

Lol this was my favourite pc game as a kid *dem custom rides*. Those were the days I had no idea what the "good" games were so for Birthdays/Christmas' I would get random (usually cheap) games, which led me to a game called 4x4 Evolution (2, I think). It was a great game, for many, many hours I played it. Then I got myself a PS2, my favourite game on that had to have been Burnout 3: Takedown, because who doesn't love arcade racing as a wrecking ball on wheels.

PS1 NFS High Stakes Crash Team Racing JetMoto
Original XBOX Forza Motorsport
PS2 NFS Most Wanted NFS Underground II NFS Undercover NFS Pro Street Gran Turismo 3 and 4 Nascar Thunder 2003 and 2004 Crash Nitro Kart (didn't have it for too long, game was defective so I traded it in for Pro Street) GTA San Andreas Test Drive (the original one, God that game was so broken...)
PS3 GTA V Gran Turismo 5
PS4 GTA V Project CARS
I sure do miss the good old days where cars had Nitro and that would be the deciding factor during the last moments of a race...
