Slow Sports Showdown
Date & Time: Sunday 20th December 2015, 18:30 UTCWe've had a lot of showdown style races on PS4 and a special one on PC too, but it's time to give XB1 some love as we revisit the Sports class, and in particular some of the less used (ie. slower) cars in this class.
Track: Olympic Grand Prix nodo.freeforums.net/post/26881
Class: Sports
Cars: Khamelion, Furore GT, Kuruma (Armoured), Rapid GT, Buffalo S, Fusilade
Customs: On
Length: 1 hour
Time: Current
Weather: Clear
Mandatory Pit Stops: 3
Meetup: 18:30 UTC (6:30pm UK Time) [Race to start no later than 19:30 UTC]
Car Selection
Cotinuing the trend started with the recent Sports Classics Showdown there will be 30 participants spread across 6 cars, so just 5 people per car. You need to sign up with an order of all six cars, from most preferred to least. When I have all participants I'll assign everyone to their number one chosen car unless there are more choices than slots available, in which case I'll draw at random. Those who don't get their first choice car will be put into their next choice assuming there is space. This will continue until everyone is assigned a car. There is no guarantee you'll get your initial car of choice (unless you choose something unpopular) though usually everyone gets at least no worse than their second choice. Also feel free to sign up for a car you want to drive but don't own since we'll be able to swap at the start, but you would be starting at the back of the grid in that event due to inability to qualify.
Qualification
There will be a 2 lap non-contact qualifying session before the race starts (ie. warm up lap -> hot lap). Your best lap time determines the position you start on the grid.
Mandatory Pit Stops
You must complete 3 pit stops during the race. They can be at any time you want and only require you to go through the pit lane (so no stopping and waiting) but failure to complete 3 pit stops will result in disqualification from the overall classification. Video proof will be required of each pit stop. The best way to do this on XB1 appears to be using the R* editor - pretty easy to start and stop without having to worry about backing out of the game. The back straight before the last corner is probably a good time to start recording (or the highway depending on how long Xbox can record for). I won't be asking for all footage to be sent to me but if someone accuses you of not making all pit stops you better have the footage to prove them wrong!
Start Procedure
Sticky bombs will start the race. The grid order and organisation of the grid will be communicated on the night once we're in the race.
Event Ethos
Just like the other showdowns this is going to be a relaxed laid back event. Nobody really cares who wins or how anyone does, and I would actively discourage people from putting in any crazy practice. It's just to use what are certainly less used sports cars in a fun and different format with hopefully some good racing. It should be interesting just to see how the cars match up since in my original testing on CCGP (which OGP grew from) all 6 were separated by less than a second. As always with these showdowns there will be some cars that are quicker than others, but the main point is to have fun and some good racing with a variety of vehicles.

CAN ALL PARTICIPANTS PLEASE REQUEST AN INVITE TO THIS TEMPORARY CREW: socialclub.rockstargames.com/crew/slow_sports_showdown
This will be used solely for this event and deleted afterwards. After you've requested the join the crew I'll then accept which is basically the same as sending you an invite, so keep an eye on social club as you'll need to re-accept to actually join once the invite has gone out.
On the night a crew session will be created and you can join via this. We will be meeting up in the cars you'll be using for the event in this car park: gyazo.com/d507f5c50fbf5710cc1fe4d5e0abc504 (it's the one that's used as part of the LSGP kart track). No bullshit at the meetup please. Get in the session, park up (preferably with all the same cars in the same areas), and chill.
I will be streaming from about 6:45 onwards but the lobby will start at 6:30 UK time. You can either listen in to the stream for instructions regarding the grid order when we start the race or listen to (probably Hale ) relaying orders in game chat. The 2 lap qualifying is self explanatory, as is the race. It's just the gridding up that will take the effort.
Also remember - three pit stops must be completed at any point during the race, from the end of the first lap to the end of the penultimate lap. You can't take a pit stop off the start line or as you cross the chequered flag.
And the final point is that this is just a bit of fun to drive all sorts of different cars against each others. As always with these showdowns nobody really cares who wins as there will be no doubt car advantages and disadvantages. Let's have some nice fun clean racing with cars that will show some very different strengths in different areas of the track
