Toca 2 Touring Cars came out in 1998 for consoles and PC, was published by Codemasters, the guys who did Grid Racing later on.
It featured following tracks :
Thruxton Silverstone Donington Brands Hatch Oulton Park Croft Snetterton Knockhill
And Touring Cars renditions of Honda, Audi, Nissan, Ford, Volvo, Vauxhaull, Peugeot, Renault etc.
Here's the intro to the game.
The menu music is sweet could be fitted for a NoDo stats overview part of an upload :

How could I not, one of the best racing titles on the ol' PSX. My favourite thing about the game at the time was the damage physics, it was quite advanced for a semi-sim racer at the time.

Oh the memories! ToCA 2 is the first racing game I ever played on Windows (had played Stunts on MS-DOS before), back when I was 8 or 9. I loved it!

As you mention the game "DTM Race Driver 2", I guess you are German, aren't you? the original TOCA 2 was also called TOCA 2 in Germany. DTM Race Driver 2 came out years later (this was the one with story and the funny cutscenes where you had to move up from amateur to world champion) this game was called TOCA 2 in some countries (or maybe all countires except Germany). THis is DTM Race Driver 2: www.youtube.com/watch?v=npSH1IDTkz4 (ignore the stupid music ;-)) and the cutscenes (starting at 01:50) www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3fJ69Vq118

But it was indeed also with moving up from rookie races to F1. But on Google it says it's called TOCA but in some countries DTM Race Driver. Incredible game, this and the original Toca Touring Cars were pretty much my childhood before the PS2. I remember playing the game and then actually watching the RL championship on the TV. My wife very affair with the Knockhill circuit in Scotland began with this game!
