I know not many have DiRT Rally, but for those who do I was wondering if you were interested in joining a League. Every x number of days/weeks/months (any time length set) there will be a set of stages from one country in a certain car/class/drivetrain where you complete the stages in the fastest time you can and you will get points for finishing position. So basically it's like a Time Trial League, certain car(s) on certain stage(s) each time. The cars will be non-owned cars so you don't need to worry about earning enough to buy the car. I must also state this is for fun, not very competitive, just think it would be cool to have a League where we can set times and compare. I've just joined another Live League (by VajbTV the streamer) and I'm so far off the pace but it's fun. So in summary:- Every "x" number of days/weeks/months a set of stages (an event) will become open to race (see below for more info)
- The cars will be stock (no need to own them) and will be different each event
- You will run the event as fast as you can and will earn points for your overall time
- Each season is made up of multiple events
- AND IT'S JUST FOR FUN
Here is the League link: NoDo League There are currently no events scheduled since it's just me, but once we get a few more people it will start. This will be open for console players too once it's released for those platforms.
It's up to the participants to decide how long each event should be open. An event would usually be 4-6 stages in one country. So every day; 3 days; week; 2 weeks? The events can also vary individually, some can be open for 1 week and others for 2, etc. so we can finalise this later. We could make the time length longer (maybe every 2 - 3 weeks) if people want to do it but don't want to play every few days. ALSO NOTE: if you miss an event you just don't get points for that event, you don't have to complete every event. So if you feel you want to join, but unsure if you can play regularly; still join, I know I'll miss a few.
Not sure if I will allow restarts, if restarts are allowed it will be event restarts not individual stages, but no restarts make you need to not crash so you don't wreck the car
Join the League if you're interested, post any suggestions for cars/time lengths/rules It's just for fun

I would definitely join if I had the game but I can't really justify another $60 purchase when I'm about to buy a few hundred dollars worth of PC parts.. I'll wait until it's on sale again.

My two cents: Weekly I think would be a good rotation. This would give people plenty of leeway for when they can/want to run the events, and time enough to do it in bite-sized pieces if desired. I would not be averse to a longer rotation, though. I think an 'event restart' is fair although no restarts would be fine with me, too. The spirit of the game and of rally is that of an unforgiving endeavor :o) Thanks cameronman1329 for getting this rolling!

If anyone needs some encouragement, here's proof that you probably at least won't get last place. That position is probably mine ;) No real drama until about 1:10 (youtube embed)

So, if it's weekly do you get the week to complete the event or just on a certain day at the end of the week?

So, if it's weekly do you get the week to complete the event or just on a certain day at the end of the week? a week. The event is open until the next one. If it's two weeks you have the two weeks to complete it. You also can save and continue it later instead of doing it all in one go

cameronman1329 Wondering how much / what sort of thoughts you have had about the class or particular car you will set up this first Event for. Admittedly I'd like to get some practice in ;) Havecn't played the game in a while, and I've only spent time with 80's RWD as my newest class of cars. Just a thought as I look at the thumbnail for the vid I posted. Maybe make the first event(s) for a 'beginner' type car like the Mini (people would probably hate that) or an 80's RWD, of course this selection is completely up to you but I think it would be nice for those who are just starting out with the game, sort of. Maybe I'm the only one who jumped right into 'career' mode and started working my way up instead of bolting for the Group B's in free events ;D That's not to say that these older non-AWD groups are more easy - quite the opposite in fact - but I personally think it would be fun to have a sort of progression in the events perhaps like the career mode guides us on. Of course in Career mode you can farm out however much cash you can stand with the first car, and spring right for a Group B monster if you want, but...eh. I guess no matter how things progress, it's gonna be fun as all hell. Granted my experience is more limited than I'd like, I only have ~100hrs into the game and probably 15 or so of those were counted while I was ALT+Tabbed and reading or watching guides/tuts on rally driving, car setups, etc. One such informative and very entertaining video I found while getting into the game: Tim O'Neil takes us around his Rally School in a Fiesta ST (customized of course) and demonstrates different types of left-foot braking techniques used. Yes, there's a footwell "pedal cam"! You can also see his steering input by watching the steering shaft which is visible in the footwell frame : I'll add other such guides/video links/etc to my first post in This Thread

sngrmns lol I only have 40 hours into the game, and only driven a handful of cars. I will probably choose something relatively easy for the first few stages (60s, R4, 2010s comes to mind) but this is all fun. I drove a RWD 80s car for the first time today in a League, took it easy and posted a decent time. This is mainly for fun, no one is gonna care if you're off the pace in this car or that car. I feel if you have a reason to play other than career, like events and leagues, you play more often, and I want to play this more often. So I'll choose something relatively easy the first two or three events but after that it will be whatever cars will suit. Since each event has to be chosen before the season starts, suggest cars you would like on particular countries and I can try and put them in!
