I saw a video on YouTube of a recriation of the Canyon Duel gamemode of Need For Speed Carbon on GTA 5 and I found the idea really cool, since it was, probably, my favorite gamemode of the game. So I decided to create tracks (currently only on PS3) for this "new racing gamemode" and assemble its rules: - The duel is divided in 2 phases: The first phase of the event starts with you tailing your opponent at the start of the canyon route. You must stay the closest you can to your rival as possible throughout the course. The second phase is the same, but with your opponent chasing you. At the end, who finishes closer to the player in front wins. - If you overtake the opponent and finishes in front, you win (even if it happened in phase 1). - If a you go out of the track, fall, get DNF'd or knock your opponent out of the track, you lose instantly (even if it happened in phase 1). - If you spin the other player out, you have to wait for them to get back on the track and then continue. Gta 5 Canyon Duel video: NFS Carbon Canyon Duel:
If you want to submit your track, post the link of it and what platform it is on. Tell what you think

PS3: Hills Pass Canyon Duel Obviously missing a checkpoint between CP21 and CP22. That left hander down a blind crest is just barely full gas. Even on a perfect line and not possible (or slower) to take flat out with some vehicles. It's a significant direction change so it needs a CP.
I'm not sure you'll get many sign-ups to an event where the tracks have 0 plays.
Would this be hosted in GTA Mode with rounds arranged over mic? 1 driver against another, the rest watch on the Start > Map. Then the next pair?
If it's more than 1v1 how will the grid be formed?
Any car choice restrictions? Which car classes?

Any car choice restrictions? Which car classes? Going to fix the issue with the checkpoint soon I actually don't plan to host an event with this gamemode, i made just for fun. But there was an event, it would be a championship, where the winners of the duels keep advancing until the final, so... no grid needed (as the races are for 2 people max) xD On the road tracks, all classes except offroad, motorbikes, vans, commercial, bicycles, and emergency are available. On the rallycross tracks, some offroads are available (offroads like the bifta, insurgent, dune buggy, etc.; sanchez, quadbike and vehicles that aren't actually offroad but are available to be used on offroad races are not available)

I see. It's more like a creator challenge which you try out in between events. Like doing Impromptu Races in a Freemode but with full checkpoints.
You should support 16 racers using Small Grid because they can be raced non-contact. Or people can form up at run in pairs. Maybe some people enter as spectators, too.
You would need a finish line using props, then the final checkpoint much further away. People would get DNF if the first half of the grid crossed the final CP. You can see who crossed the prop line using GPS, if you place it near a line or on a junction.
Just some ideas to develop this concept into actual gameplay.

I'll have a go at re-creating these on PC because this seems like a really fun idea. Might even create 1 or 2 of my own

Work with that Guilhas If all thought about properly, you could have a really cool innovating concept. You could make a great event with this. To bad it's pretty hard to monitor it all, as all the 'rules' are imaginary to the game. But that doesn't mean it won't work Use Ben's idea for a prop-finish, and put a Marshall there to see who's first for example. Good luck!

I'm back to gta and to the forums, after almost 2 months and i plan on going on with this project. I'll continue to create tracks and review the rules. I would be nice if the tracks were recreated and played on the current gen consoles and pc (johnny already recreated Tongva's Edge on PC)
