Introduction:
We have never done a 99 lap endurance event on PC (at least we never finished a 99 lap race), but now it's time! If you participate in this event, you will be facing a 2 hour race with never ending battles, which you can't escape by being way faster or slower than your opponents. There will always be other cars around you on a short track. On top of that you have to adjust your strategy to your teammates, since you will share a pit box with them, which only fits one car at a time. So communication and team strategy is key to bring home the win for your team. We will race the Benefactor Feltzer, a proven sports car, nimble and quick and well suited for long ongoing battles on a new track. The event spirit is having fun in clean racing with a lot of cars and clean overtakes. Enjoy being part of a team and accomplish something together with your crew mates instead of bitching about rule details or lag hits.
Track:
Zancudo Flow is a new track within Fort Zancudo. It shares the last two thirds of the track with cameronman1329's Calling Arms, but with tighter corners to adjust to the speed of the Feltzer. Lap times should be between 1:00 and 1:05 minutes. Additionally the track features the most sophisticated pit lane of NoDo race tracks with 4 separate pit boxes.
{Spoiler}
Car restrictions:
Benefactor Feltzer [Introduction by Picano]
There are no restrictions besides primary color and horn sound will be determined by your team.
You are free to use all kinds of tires, spoilers, suspensions, neons or tyre smoke.
TeamSpeak:
Being on TeamSpeak is a must for this event. You don't have to have a microphone, but you must be able to hear instructions by officials. Make sure to find a way to communicate your pit stops to your team, when you don't have a microphone. Please avoid conversations not relevant for the race.
Important dates:
July, 11th - 5:00 pm UTC: Qualifying opens, you can now submit screenshots.
July, 24th - 5:00 pm UTC (forum time of PM counts): Deadline for screenshot submission. Results will be online shortly after. The team captains will be notified to show up at the draft.
July, 25th - 8:30 pm UTC (after the daily playlist): We meet in a TeamSpeak channel for the draft: The team captains must attend, so the date might move backwards, depending on feedback of notification. All other drivers are free to join the show.
July, 29th - 7:00 pm UTC: meet-up in an invite only session, We will take team pictures (prepare and be more creative than the opposing teams!) and pictures of up to 28 Feltzers.
July, 29th - 7:30 pm UTC: The Race
July, 29th - 9:30 pm UTC: Celebration in a invite only session with winning team on the podium.
Signups (Step One - unlimited / open until Friday, July 22nd):
To sign up you have to post in this thread as step one and qualify for the race as step two. Please consider this race is probably the longest you have ever been in. If you have no experience in endurance racing over an hour without breaks, please don't sign up. I don't want participants to drop out in the middle of the race, because they get bored by the length of the race or they can't concentrate that long or didn't expect that their hands might start cramping.
Qualification (Step Two - max. 28 drivers / starting on July, 11th - 5:00 pm UTC):
As step two you have to send a PM with a screenshot of a 10 lap race of this track to me. You can see an example in the spoiler below. I will add "[Q]" to the track name as long as the qualifying phase is running. Screenshots before and after the qualifying phase do not count. The 28 fastest race times will enter the event. The best lap time does not matter. The total race time counts. In case of an unlikely identical race time of two or more drivers the order of PM delivery time determines the order of the drivers.
{Spoiler}Example screenshot:
The qualification times of all drivers will be kept secret until the submission deadline is over.
If less than 28 drivers have sent in a screenshot at the deadline, then the top 24 (20, 16) drivers will enter the event.
This post will be updated with amount of drivers who already submitted a screenshot and the race time you have to beat to qualify for the event.
The posted race time will be rounded up to avoid that a driver knows exactly that he will drop out next, when someone beats his time.
To make it clear: If "Race time to beat:" says 10:00 min, you will definitely not be in the event, when you have submitted a 10:01 min race or slower earlier. A new submission of a 10:01+ min race is also unnecessary. If you have submitted a 9:58 min race, you can't be sure to be in the event. There might be 28 submissions with 9:57 or faster race times and you are not in, but there can also be 3 drivers with 9:59 in places 26-28.
There is no rule to round up to the next full 5 or 10 seconds. It's my free choice how much I add to the currently slowest, qualifying race time.
You can submit multiple screenshots, but limited to one per day. It is not allowed to intentionally delay the submission of a screenshot to avoid half the drivers leap frogging everyone by submitting only their best time from one week ago at the deadline.
If two or more drivers want to submit their time with the same screenshot, ALL drivers must submit the screenshot or confirm in a multirecipient PM thread, that they want to submit their time showing in the screenshot of another driver. It is allowed to submit screenshots of races you did on your own. If I catch someone cheating by submitting bogus screenshots, he will be disqualified and out of the event.

Teams:
The drivers will be picked into 4 teams (max. 28 drivers).
Each team will be assigned a team color, which has to be used as primary car color, a specific horn sound and a pit box.
Colors must differ significantly from each other. So bright orange and yellow can't be used both.
The available horn sounds are: Stock horn $0, Truck Horn $2000, Police Horn $3000, Clown Horn $5000
After the draft (see below) choose a sponsor fitting the team color within the San Andreas Universe, think of a team motto and unified team attire. Be creative!
Grid and team construction via draft:
The grid will be set up by order of race times handed in via screenshot. The four fastest drivers will be the team captains.
In order of race time the captains are choosing their prefered team colors, horns and pit boxes. So the fastest driver has free choice of color, horn and pit box. The second fastest can choose between the remaining colors, horns and pit boxes and so on.
The team captains will then snake draft through remaining drivers until every top 28 driver is selected.
The draft order is as follows: 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and repeat
They can pick whoever they like based on grid position (only top 28), racing skills, communication skills and sympathy.
Already selected teammates can shortly discuss their next selection on TeamSpeak, until the host gives them a time limit. In doubt the team captain has the last word.
Pit watchers:
There will be a total of 140 pit stops in this race, so I would like to have 2 experienced pit watchers. Please communicate before the event how you plan to handle this challenge. (1 pit watcher is responsible for 2 pit boxes or one counts pit stops, the other has an eye on the 10 second stop times.) You can be a pit watcher, if you fail to make the cut (29th or slower).
Host:
Unlike seen in other events I don't reserve myself a spot in this event and also won't claim my favorite color/team combination for myself. I have to qualify and can be drafted as everybody else. If I won't make the cut, I will be one of the pit watchers.
The only advantage I have is that I know the exact cut-off point in qualification times.
Reserves after the draft:
If someone drops out after the draft, the next fastest driver, who did not make the cut before, has the right of first refusal to get the spot. If we need a a last minute reserve, because someone does not show up in time, the fastest available driver, who is online in TeamSpeak gets the spot. To be eligible to participate as a reserve driver, you must have submitted a screenshot to qualify for the event. Last minute reservers who have no clue what this event is about, are not allowed to race. Reserves must have the correct color and horn of the team on their Feltzer.
Pre-lobby meet-up:
Location: Parking lot one block south-west of the CNT building. Park in line with your team please. See map.
If the cops enter the parking lot due to a wanted level, I will do everything to identify the person responsible for it and place him last in the starting grid. The same happens, if you kill someone on the parking lot or destroy a personal vehicle. I'm serious with this and there will be no warnings whatsoever.
Start procedure:
We grid up F1 style, so two car lines, with one car length of space between cars. The grid will need a bend at the end to get besides the pit lane.
The fastest team captain can choose at the draft, if he wants to start in front on the left or on the right side.
There is no formation lap.
Start on sticky bombs after an announced race time.
Track limits and curb boosts:
The track is limited by props, walls and fences, so no restrictions are needed. Curb boosting is allowed with one restriction in the race. If a car is next to you behind the barracks between the two left handers (front wheel next to your rear wheel is enough), you are not allowed to curb surf. That means, it's allowed to use the curb once before the gate and once after the gate.
Pit stops:
Every driver has to take 5 mandatory pit stops in the race. The driver has to stop his car in his team's pit box (between the tire stacks) and stand there for 10 seconds. A team's pit box only fits one car per rule.
{Spoiler}So if more than one car per team want to pit at the same time, the second and later cars have to wait until the pit box is free. The 10 second timer starts when your car comes to a standstill within the pit box. The waiting time in front of a blocked pit box does not count. The times will not be announced. You must be able to add 10 seconds to the race time on your own. It's up to the teams to make a pit stop strategy or communicate when to do their pit stops to avoid blocking each other in the pits. Wrenches respawn after exactly 60 seconds. There are 3 wrenches per pit box, but it is not necessary to pick up a wrench during your 10 second stop. Additional pit stops to just repair your car are allowed w/o doing the 10 seconds standstill in the pit box, but it is not allowed to use wrenches of other teams. Please make sure the pit watchers recognize, it is just a drive-through, which does not count against your mandatory pit stops. There are no pit windows. Just one pit stop per lap. It is allowed to do a mandatory pit stop in lap 1.
If you are called out by a pit watcher for leaving the pit box too early, this pit stop won't count towards your total mandatory pit stops. If you don't have enough laps left to complete all your pit stops, you will be disqualified. A DNF is no excuse for doing just 4 pit stops. So pit early, if you can't make lap 99. Overtake only on the left in the pit lane to avoid crashes.

Lapping other cars:
There is no blue flag. Drivers are allowed to fight for their position at all times. It does not matter, whether they get lapped or not. This should encourage the team spirit of the race. Slower drivers can let faster drivers of their own team pass, but fight for their position against other team's drivers to a certain extent. It is not allowed to form walls or doing stuff like braking way too early to intentionally slow down a specific opponent, so a teammate can overtake him. Just act like all cars are on the same lap all the time. If you are the faster driver, please be patient with your overtakes and avoid crashes. Bullying/honking slower drivers out of the way is not allowed. Get a clean overtake. If you are the slower driver in front, you are allowed to defend, but as usual you can change lines only once on a straight. If a faster driver tries to lap you and is able to get next to you, because he had the better exit out of the last corner, let him pass in a 50-50 situation, even if you think your line is the "racing line" and he would have to back off in a fight for position.
If driver A causes a collision and takes out driver B, he has to wait and give the position back within the current lap. So if driver A is 2 laps ahead of driver B and causes a collision while trying to lap him a third time, he has to wait and let driver B pass, so he has to try again for lapping him the third time.
No safety car:
There will be no safety car in this race, since it is a very short track and it will be too difficult to find the leader quickly.
On a major crash the driver responsible for it has to wait for all involved cars. Everyone who crashed must re-enter the track in a safe way. Avoid changing lines, when you are still accelerating back towards race speed. It is not allowed to intentinally block other drivers while recovering from an accident, until you have passed the next brake point.
Respawning is not allowed, unless you are in an unrecoverable position, in which case you have to announce your respawn location in beforehand.
Yellow Flag rules apply:
Driver directly behind the crash should slow down as needed to find a safe way through the crashed cars. It is not allowed to overtake cars not involved in the crash. Stay behind the driver who was in front of you, when you recognized there was a crash. Stay behind until your group of cars has passed the crash safely. Overtaking is allowed again from the next braking point onwards.
Use your horn or TeamSpeak to notify other drivers about a crash and a yellow flag situation.
Scoring system:
1st 44
2nd 39
3rd 34
4th 29
5th 24
6th 21
7th 18
8th 15
9th 12
10th 10
11th 8
12th 6
13th 4
14th 3
15th 2
16th 1
The scoring system will change with less participants following the same sequence starting from last place.
The team score will be determined by adding up all scores of the team's drivers. Disconnected drivers will receive points and ordered by time of disconnect, so first disconnect will be placed last.
In case of a tie, the team with the best team picture wins the event.
