When friends and I want to take a break from using the "racing" cars we agree to use the cars we have for fun, often sports (for me I like the convertible Rapid GT, Carbonizzare, others like Banshee, Coquette, Surano, Comet, Furore, or get a chance to race their Khamelion). Driving drop-tops on long country tracks like North Loop with weather: current is great.
I really like the sports classics, though wish there were many more and that it were more balanced. (Was the Monroe code changed? It seems to handle much much worse these days unless I'm imagining things. Stingers look great too, also have one with one character but just for fun/north map freeroam, not racing.) Would be nice if the low-riders were a separate class, as the Manana, Peyote, Tornado can be fun. I find sports classics, like muscles, comes down even more to skill and familiarity with handling/limits of one's vehicle, therefore there's a little variety of vehicles and owner's pride. Some tracks can see the top 4-6 or even 7 classics/muscles balance pretty well, personalized together on a track lookin rad. (I used to be the rare Dominator or Sabre Turbo on the track surrounded by Blades but I think Broughy's recent videos will change that.)
Some of the community also make good races locked to specific rarely-used vehicles.
Another time for enjoying odd cars is when a low level's in the lobby, friends and I turn customs off and agree not to choose Zentorno or whichever top 1-3 car in a class, in which case for supers I enjoy the Voltic, unless you get wrecked in which case it is finally a car in the game with hydraulics.
