What: a NoDo-only race for PC for Project CARS
Where: Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Stavelot, Belgium
When: Friday 27 May 10pm UTC
Car Class: GT3
Cars: the grid will be filled to 24, with a mix of NoDo PC racers and bots. Bots will be set at >80% difficulty.
Assists: GT3 cars support traction control and ABS. Automatic gears will be supported (controllers). Racing line can be enabled.
Laps: 30
Pits: 1 mandatory
Qualifying: Qualifying will be set for 10mins. During this time drivers in NoDo may only complete one flying lap. Practice laps - leaving the pits to drive back around to the pits - are allowed for practice. But the grid position will be dictated by your single flying lap.
Penalties: Disabled. The two chicanes - Les Combes (turns 7, 8, 9) and the bus stop at 19, 20 are protected by speed humps that will mitigate against cheating. The only area where you could exceed the track (but not gain time) is up through Eau Rouge and Radillon onto the Kemmel Straight, driving the F1 line as Australian scrubs like me are wont to do. pCARS imposes a 5 second slow down penalty and as you're doing >200km/h there a car doing half that is a massive risk.
Damage: Full. This means no setting brake ducts to 0% open to exploit the aerodynamic bonus it offers.
Custom liveries: Not allowed. This will only show up for you, not others.
Map:
Teams: Where possible, we want to form teams. That means, if two drivers want to race say an Audi R8 LMS Ultra, they will need to use the same livery. Some good examples of this include the Bentley Racing Team Continential GT3 (#7 and #8); Skydive Dubai RUF RGT-GT3; BMW Racing Team; McLaren Racing #59 and #60 MP4-12C GT3.
I have no issues about 3 drivers to a team
Spectators: Own pCARS but not wanting to race? Hopefully we'll have some people Twitch stream the race but, if you have Twitch and the game you can flag it now with me and join the race itself to retire to the pits and spectate. This means you can skip through the field and watch in cinematic mode as cars battle on track. This could make for some good perspectives on battles, and could kickstart that commentary career you always wanted!
I don't own the game but this sounds fun - given the calendar for PC events, you've got time to grab this on Steam and join in. It is for controller or wheel, though wheel is obviously much better.
