Ok, sorry I haven't gotten to reply yet to everyone, I must have given myself food poisoning after the last races, because after I ate I was wiped out. Ending up passing out 10 minutes after I posted the results last night.
First off, the results for the GT3 class were incorrect. Terrible job of copy/paste without updating the numbers. Here's the correct results from last night (already updated in the OP):
That's not a bad idea at all, in fact jmar17 is doing something very much like that (without classes, I believe) for the The Stock Multiplayer Playlist. On a side note, more people need to sign up for that! It's free! On a Saturday!
But for this series, unfortunately I can't retroactively do that. I did not have a working camera for the very first set of races we ran, and I just wrote down everyone where they finished in their class. I have no idea what their overall position was in the race.
This also brings up a couple of other questions/thoughts. First off, we debated the Sultan moving into GT2. Technically, it's not as good as most of the GT2 cars. But it's far easier to drive than most of those. I could beat myself in a Sultan if the other me was driving that Coquette. By doing your suggestion, it would make well performing cars in lower classes more valuable, and difficult to drive cars in higher classes less valuable, because of the potential to win points.
I believe most of the confusion is coming from this. I think people forgot it's a multi-class event, even though everyone is driving Sports cars, and the difference in performance isn't drastic between each group. Not having standings up yet likely contributed to this confusion. So to be clear, if you race in GT3, the points you earn go to the GT3 standings. There is no "overall" standings that compiles every racer in every class and groups them up. I could understand your annoyance to get less points than other classes.
So on that note, the standings have been finally added to the OP. As you can see from me, I've raced in all 3 classes, but the points I earned towards that class are all that go towards each group's standings. I don't have 18 points total, I have 3 in GT1, 5 in GT2, and 10 in GT3.
The Opp in the column headers means Opponents, as in number of opponents faced. "Unique" opponents count is not shown, and isn't really relevant (that's more relevant for something like the Elo Rankings).
These use the points as outlined before. I can work today on giving a comparison using the GTA points system, the F1 points system, NASCAR points system, whatever I can find, to give you guys a comparison to something you're used to seeing. But I am very positive that the overall results will not change at all.
Finally, I want to ask everyone this. In what real life racing series do you know of that rewards extra points for margin of victory? A win is a win, it doesn't matter if you win by 0.5 seconds or 2 minutes. This isn't rally racing. This is multi-class racing, you are racing other cars in your class while sharing the track with vehicles from another class holding their own race.
d0dheim lost to UJGSniped the last race of the UK event by half a second. I had to message both to ask who won because the playlist showed both with 8 points, and the race results picture was smudged over their names. Yet I don't hear him complaining or asking for more points. He honestly messaged me back that result.

Edit: For a suggestion perhaps +2 for beating a car in a class above you. +3 for a car 2 classes above you +4 for beating a car 3 classes ahead of you. That seems fair to me, If a futo or a penumbra beats any of the gt1 cars they should be rewarded. and if a Sultan is running top 5 and beating GT1 and GT2 cars they should be rewarded.

Perhaps none of this matters though and only the points within your class do. However the margin I won by still seems like its too small considering how much faster I was in my class and overall. I wasnt far off the the pace of GT1 cars in any race I was in. Only Meh Ryan blew me out of the water with his GT1 car.
