Hahah, i like the idea. I used to do it on gran turismo 3 for the 24hrs challenges. Id like to say that payments in races are according to length, but mostly by amount of turns and changes of speed. So whoever makes the tracks should add quite few turns( obviously with smooth barriers on the outside or even pipes) to make the payments up to 10 times bigger. If you could make it per laps, you could even make it on your own , setting it to a ridiculous number of laps cs you could only do 1 race. I might try to build an automated race with turns, maybe slow down stripes before turnings and see how it works.

If you are referring to GTA the race payouts are based solely on time (amount of opponents as well, but it uses time as the basis for the money you get). And there is a cap on the payouts as well

I know for a fact though when im by myself after 8 minutes on track your payout is $8408 and is capped at that, no matter how much longer the time

Its the same thing with missions, every minute you get a little more money. Its not a gradual rise, its a ladder system

Maybe it has more to do with the kind of drivers you get in long haul compared to a propper track haha.

And now thinking, if the payments are just proportional to time, then a bad driver will get paid more than a good one? Both racing alone usong the same track. Why do why rush to get to finish line? Haha

The higher the level of the other drivers, the more money you will get. That too is capped, and obviously being in NoDo I dont race against low level players too much anymore, so it kinda faded in my memory. But yeah if you race against a bunch of level 20 randoms you will make less then against level 200s

It must be something missing I can not confirm for every mission type, but yes you get paid less for doing missions quicker. If the mission has a timer, if you are close to the next whole minute, it would be smart just to wait a few seconds until the next minute before you complete the mission. Disclaimer: For some missions its every 1 minute you get paid more, I think there are a few where its every 2 minutes. Im sure someone else here has more information on this, this is just from general gameplay and noticing a trend with time

BTW you can change who wins by changing the camera perspective: With the camera closer to your character, the camera turns quicker and the character doesn't hit the walls as much and is therefore faster.

beta1hit This still a thing you guys are doing? Short of periodically dropping in for playlist races I pretty much never start up the game, I could run it in the background.
