[...] Note that I've read the guide but I already knew about everything that's in it. (Really good job btw!) [...] thx -> "So I've finally decided to ask for help cause I'm out of ideas/solutions and I reached a point where I almost want to quit the game. [...] Your goal should be to understand where you loose time on a clean lap. You have tried everything yourself without finding a satisfying answer. So my suggestion would be to ask a good friend to help you out. Ideally someone who is significantly faster than you. Drive pairwise around a track. Drive behind him and also let him follow you. At the end both of you should be able to tell where he makes up the most time on you. Then you have to figure out what's the reason behind it: other lines, better braking, higher cornering speed, better acceleration (via curbs, short shifts, ...) You're right, It's still the best way to learn! I'll ask the guys if I can join their MCEC practice lobbies Well first of all, thanks for your answer Could you please explain the meta knowledge part ? Do you mean I should reevaluate what I think I know ? Maybe go back to basics etc ? Do you know cosmetics affect your center of mass? Did you know neon lights does that too? Do you know how turbo pressure works in gta? Stuff like that, things that aren't directly related to racing in general but just how the game mechanics work I did know that as I've read chilli's doc. That's why I also modified my cars setups, I spent a lot of time and money in LS custom. But I'll just go back to it and reread it!

Ok I'm gonna expose my problem [...] I can't go faster, my lap times don't improve and I can't figure out why. So here it is, any thought, any piece of advice is welcome..." Thanks! Two things that usually help me: 1) Find a track you like, check for fast laps on youtube and try to re-create those laps inch-perfect. Set some split-times at points, pause the video, analyse their track position at braking points / turning points compared to yours. You will get a better feeling in which sections your split times are too slow and can work your way round the track section after section. Everybody used to hotlap "muscle in" back then. Try to get a 59 there for example; there is dozens of those on youtube. I used to look out for split times at like 18s and 38s there and when you only hit a 19 or 39 you immediately know you were too slow in the first sectors. On other occasions you might hit a 19s first but then a 38s, and you can read from it that you lost it in the first sector and made it up in the second again. For some tracks I have ridiculous split-times like at 8s, 14s, 27s and so on. It's a good way to get a better feeling where you loose out. 2) Race a sim-racing game for a bit. It will also improve you as it will stress the point of clean lines and proper braking points. When I play project cars or F1 for like two days my driving in GTA usually also profits from it (until it wears out and I get GTA sloppy again after a while).

Thanks, working by sectors really helps indeed, I'll see if i can find videos for some tracks. I've played a lot of sim-racing games before but i don't have my steering wheel anymore and i really can't drive in a sim game with a controller :/ quick off-topic question : weren't you in Race (the crew) back in 2015 on PS3 ? ^^

Is it possible to append some more advanced techniques to the guide? Brake-boosting being the big one here that everyone is talking about.

It's not possible to throttle control on keyboard, hence why a lot of people moved to controller. You can still be very fast without a controller, but there are major disadvantages such as not being able to shortshift.
