Greece is nearly at 30% GPD lost to tax avoidance; Germany is at about 15%. Just for comparison. I think the only worse state in Europe was Estonia or Latvia from memory? Anyway point remains that Greece was living excessively beyond its means and with no plan for fixing this deficit. So tell me what else is Europe meant to have done? Arguably not admit Greece in the first place, but mostly because the EU expanded for reasons that are suspect at best (sup, Turkey, you maniacs!) If you're looking at a world in bad shape, though, point the ire at Gordon Brown, Barrack Obama, and John Maynard Keynes. The latter's thoughts prompted the former two to bail the economy out in 2008. Instead of a cleansing fire effect - what Schumpeter called "creative destruction" - they deferred the fall for a decade and a bit and compounded the interest on it. It's not liberal economics that are the issue - it's the mentality that anything, including a world order, is too big to fail. Yeah but compare that to Zimbabwe it is 100%. Because all the taxes go to Mugabe (just felt like memeing)

Honestly, I think this would have been the best thing to do. It's been pointed out that Greece account balance had been "falsified" by banks holding Greece debt titles like Goldman Sachs so Greece could pass the economics requirements and be accepted within the EU, only for said banks to speculate on those debts titles and get the most out of them now that they're in the gutter.

And this is the biggest complaint I have against the EU. They're not transparent enough for criticism.
I support the idea of the EU and a united bloc of nations, but I can understand why one would vote to leave its current state of affairs.

I doubt she'll step down, she's the kind of woman to be stubborn up until the very end.

May might get the same. Some of her colleagues have lost their jobs because of her, and others certainly had squeaky bum moments.

Funny thing is the DUP make UKIP look completely sane... anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, they don't believe in climate change, they don't believe in evolution and if you're catholic you're buggered.

How is a one nation Tory "Thatcher Mk2". Also were you even alive when she was PM? Now you come to mention it I was! I'm young enough to have had to learn what that bitch was like, and old enough to have lived through the consequences of her "legacy". As regards to me calling her Maggie Thatcher, I'm not saying policy wise she's the second coming, I'm talking in regards to personality. As it has already been pointed out it took the Tories to turn on Thatcher before she resigned. Theresa May will no doubt go out the same way.

My recent Facebook status:
"So while the Tories have campaigned for weeks that Corbyn was a terrorist sympathiser, May has gone and formed a coalition with what used to be members from a terrorist group. Can no one see the irony?"
