You mean we might actually play a proper racing game and have consequences to our actions ??
Im with you endersai .. Im all in for a custom championship. Looks very promising from what i have seen so far.
So from talking to Pez, the plan would be to run races from launch to Jan to build interest, cross promoting it in other event threads like playlist. All sorts of car classes, just to get people into a racing mindset that doesn't involve curb boosting.
I'm really tempted to lock it to cockpit view too, because racing with the full car = GTA and this isn't GTA.
But yeah, come Jan we'll have a full GT series. Pez and I agree, bots will be there given the AI is improved. "Oh but what if a Bot does something stupid and takes me out?" you might ask. We'd say "you're in NoDo, you'd be used to it?"
You need a full grid of almost 30 cars. You need especially to have markers on track that you can use to push against for overtakes. The other day, I was punted off track by SabertoothWolF at Hockenheim after a masterful overtake from 3rd on him, and scooty1pie. He was taken out a corner or two later, and I was down in 2nd last with Scooty speeding off to a massive lead and win. But from there I was able to fight back, on bots at 85% difficulty, to a 2nd place finish by slipstreaming and having that visual marker to push against. Having a field of 15 players isn't racing, it's hotlapping.
Races will have rolling starts, like real GT3. They will also race for 1hr, not for a set number of laps; again, like the Blancpain GT series. And, with fuel into consideration, work will need to be done on tyre and fuel consumption rates - do you park medium or hard compound tyres on the car and send it out with max fuel load so you only need to pit in the closing stages of the race? Or build some early leads and capitalise that way?
The idea will be to hit up a circuit of about 8 races in changable weather conditions. Full assists for our controller playing friends.
I think I need to reconsider my decision to buy F1 2017 and buy Project Cars 2 instead, this game looks really interesting. And if there will be opportunity, I would like to participate in nodo championship
Welp, endie is posting about his championship so I guess I'll post my idea if anyone is lurking from PS4.
TCR is actually a class in pCARS2 (Kinda), which is dope. Whats not is that there's only 4 cars. And none of them are a Volkswagen or Audi So I'm pissed, but its better then nothing.
Watching TCR racing, the numbers tend to be very low (16ish competitors) but I'll probably bump it up to about 22 and if it feels empty I'll include bots, but the tracks will tend to be shorter variants.
Four rounds would be held the same day on two different tracks with a 15 minute qualifying for the first race. Second race would be reverse top ten. Set laps for about 20 minute sprints. Pits are closed for anything other then penalties. Tire wear and fuel shouldnt be an issue with such short races, might even do half hour races instead.
I imagine damage has always been a touchy subject online, especially with bots, so I'll leave it set to visual only at first.
I'll have weather vary, but never transition mid race like from rain to dry.
I'm probably going to lock away the more sweaty camera angles, and leave it to either third person, cockpit, or helmet.
12 to 22 rounds seems doable, 3 to 6ish saturdays.
Well... ye it is but please dont make us ( controler player ) feel even more "retarded" playing racing sim on controler i would rather have some assists off then cockpit view ( cockpit view + assists off i was crashing in almost every corner, car view + assists off still crashig but a lot less )
As endersai said,, "Its a racing sim" not an arcade racer..
Im all for cockpit view to add to the realism. Time to move on from 3rd person racing , curb boosting , and mid drive speed boosting and any other gimmick. If thats your thing,, then stick to GTA racing or mario kart Time to race for real and show proper race craft.
If theres enough people who are on controllers using 3rd person ,, then someone else can organise / host a championship.
I for one want more from my racing games that GTA just doesnt offer.
