d4rkphil Please quickly update your profile info on the forums with your social club username and I'll get you signed up. Also, take a quick glance at the crew-wide racing rules if you haven't done so already. Good luck on race day!

So, since the poll doesn't give us a clear winner, what's the decision on brake-boosting now redlaserbm ?

Whoops looks like I didn't quite get track limits posted yet. I'm unfortunately not in a position right now to post them but I'll see what I can do about posting them tonight. Some updates to the event: 1. Brake-boosting will not be banned to any extent during the event. 2. I am still on the hunt for a race official to help me run the event. Having a race official who can quickly record race-by-race points will permit the event to be run smoother than if I were to record the results myself. Additional driver participants, including newcomers, are also welcome. Please join if you're on the edge about joining, the more participants we have the more fun this event will be! 3. Given recent time changes please be sure that you arrive at the right time. The forums always show the current time in UTC--the event starts Saturday at 6pm UTC.

Sorry for double post, but as it happens that we have quite a few participants in this event that are either rookies or do not have much experience overall, I wish to go over a few things I usually don't go over when hosting events. You don't have to read this post, but if you're a newcomer it help to glance over.
The top guys in our crew go really fast, and to be honest I have no clue how I ever managed to beat them even once in anything. Part of the reason they go fast is from familiarity with the feel for the game afforded by months or even years of driving within the crew, but beyond the simple ability to race cleanly and stick to the racing line, there's also some cool techniques these guys use which newcomers can replicate to improve their on-track pace as well: Stock Brakes Crew commissioner CHILLI advises not to upgrade the brakes on most vehicles. The extra powerful brakes basically increase the chance that you lock up the wheels and hence not slow down as fast. Curb-boosting Driving your car over a curb makes it go faster. In this event, curb-boosting will be limited to one boost per curb per straight. MDSB Letting go of the throttle, hitting the handbrake, and then getting back on the throttle (really quick) when in low-gear can trick the car into doing a burnout that allows the car to accelerate faster. See [placeholder] for more info. Short-shifting Clever manipulation of the throttle lets you upshift the car quicker than it normally is capable of. See this video for more details. Short-shifting is especially effective if you can shift the car just before you hit a curb. Brake-boosting Hitting the brakes as the car suspension decompresses--say if you go over a dip in the road or reach the peak of a steep enough hill--tricks the game into doing a "burnout" of sorts that gives the car a little extra speed on straights. See this video for more details. Brake-boosting is used repeatedly in TEPCOTT S2D1R5, hence this video can also be studied to get a better understanding of how brake-boosting works.

Before I forget this:
Track Limits Track limits will be enforced for the entirety of the event, including qualifying. These track limits may be updated as late as 36 hours before the event start. Track Boundaries(Figure 1) Participants may not place more than two tires on the grass at this section of the track to gain an advantage or overtake. (Exceptions will be made for drivers forced out of bounds.) Curb-boostingOnly one curb-boost may be obtained per curb per straight. (Figure 2) The curbing in the above photo that lies before the tree (Figure 2) is not considered to be part of a straight. (Figure 3) (Figure 4) The section of the curbing in the above photo which lies before the start/finish line (Figure 3) and the section of curbing which lies after the start/finish line (Figure 4) are considered to be two separate curbs. Notice as a consequence of how these rules are defined, participants that take the curb in figure 2, then the curb (once) in figure 3, and then the curb (once) in figure 4 in consecutive fashion, are not considered to be in violation of the curb-boosting rules. Too Long, Didn't ReadTo be honest I'm not sure if there's any advantage to be gained from exceeding the track limits. Don't do anything stupid and you shouldn't be penalized for any track limit infractions.

Tags are going out because I need empty seats filled. Definitely don't hesitate to join if you're on the edge about joining! A heads up to all current participants that we will be using Baron's teamspeak server for this saturday. Please see this post for more info. A last-minute post clarifying some of the rules and the pit procedure will go up after I get my ass kicked on exams. It should be up hopefully within 36 hours of the time of this post.

See this video for more details. Brake-boosting is used repeatedly in TEPCOTT S2D1R5, hence this video can also be studied to get a better understanding of how brake-boosting works. MDSB works best if you do it right before or as the car is about to shift into 3rd gear or so. You can still get boosts from higher gears but usually far less effective. And about brake burnout-boosting (I will forever insist on calling it that and you cant stop me) you must hold both the throttle & brake at the same time. If you let go off the throttle it will only slow you down. You are right in saying that it tricks the game into doing a rolling burnout though. Just wanted to point out the input combo as I couldnt figure it out myself until someone told me to press both triggers on controller. Pointing out that I'm a commissioner shouldnt have any influence in my credibility, hah. Dont ever give up critical thinking, even if it may be from a credible source, kno'whatImean?
