IMO, contrary to popular belief, experience is worth a piss if you're just there racking up miles like OTR truck drivers. For example, I'd bet my money on a driver with 2 years of experience who always thinks about what he's doing right/wrong and constantly tries to improve, than a 30-year veteran who just drives and gets paid by the mile.
Also it may look like you're always in the same pack because believe it or not, other people are trying to get better too. Keep joining races and try to copy what the fast guys are doing. And don't worry about frame fappers with expensive PC.
But then again, who am I to talk about experience when I only lost 1000 races...

I am with most on here! I raced 1000 some races and was l typically in the top 3. Then joined this crew a couple years back and would never ever finish a race or an event!! Now I can compete around the lower middle and been doing this over a year and a half like Ben. We have improved my biggest thing is try to tell people is don't get discouraged by the people you race with, some like others said are they BEST. Don't get discouraged I know the feeling it will start to come together. There are some cool people in this crew that are typically willing to help!

I'm new here, but I recommend you don't give up. It's like hot-lapping. You start off with one time, and then you slowly get faster and faster. You can do it buddy!

slayaaaz69 You sound very similar to me when I first started. I competed in my first NoDo event (and first proper racing event in general) in June 2017. I'm very OCD so I keep a record of every event I have done since then and my finishing positions in those events. By January this year something really clicked and I've started to become quite competitive (when I need to be ). My best advise is just practice practice practice. Doing hot laps of tracks on your own might eventually make you faster but racing with others will increase your skill 10 times faster. When it comes to being inconsistent and choking, as I said practice practice practice, and try to get into events with longer races so you can really push yourself. When I do races, I rely on consistency rather than pure pace, and if you speak to any really good racer on these forums or other forums such as Cloud9, just remember that consistency comes first, pace second - there's no point in being fast if you're just going to choke all the time. P.S. Try to race in difficult cars, as that will make the learning curve must faster than if you race in other, easier cars. Here are some suggestions: Supers: Zentorno Sports: 9F/9F Cabrio Muscle: Pisswasser Dominator/Dominator Sports Classic: Turismo Classic Finally, NEVER GIVE UP, no matter if it's a playlist race or a proper endurance event. You always learn best from your mistakes and you never know how many places you can make up.

When you think there's no way you can achieve any additional improvement at your driving skills, then you simply lack the focus on mistakes. Maybe you're also just bored of your activities and need a bit more variety.

I will give up. Even the beginner races are to hard for me. Peoples do ligthhing fast starts from a stand, how that? Always different cars for unknown tracks, boost here, boost there, boost anywhere. Proline??? Is the Proline racing over the boardwalks? Where from should I know that? I can see the fast drivers behaviour only when I am overlapped, and then I wonder where they are driving. I can't even clean the way as I didn't know I am in their line. And maybe I am too old for this.
edit: Practiced a lot on my own and now I know at least how brake boost is working.

If you dont know the lines/boosts maybe u should start watching some bois that know the lines and stuff like Silkie, prismide and serenniel and then try to do those line that they do

The best trick I have found to improve myself is to race against my own ghost. Unfortunately there is no such thing in GTA5, but by racing against your ghost, you can try different things and see how well it does relatively to how you did it last time, you end up finding new racing lines that are more effective.

Often what I do is I know I wont win, so I don't worry about that, then I focus on points that I know I'm bad at, like I'm pretty bad at overtaking, so I try my best to improve overtaking and defending from someone overtaking. A lot of this games racing is practice, and understanding what to do. A great suggestion I saw was to practice with a buddy in a race just one on one, I'm sure there are plenty of other people who would want to learn the same way!
