What's this crew's thoughts on non contact races?
Personally I prefer non contact because it's essentially a time attack free for all at the same time. Best driver, best time wins.
That being said, there is a lot of skill involved in contact races and not colliding with each other, but given the limitations of the console controller, unintentional contact is inevitable. I don't mind contact races as long as all the competitors understand racing lines, right of way, and proper racing etiquette.
All I want is good clean racing, may the best man or woman win. However, it's hard to find races where everyone respects racing etiquette.
Hoping to find it in nodo.
BUT non contact guarantees no accidents.
Just my two cents.

Non-Contact + Transform is my favorite. Non-Contact + Stunt brings up second. Non-Contact + traditional races bring up third.
I play a lot of random races so non-contact is a must unless you want a all out demo derby. I did try racing contact with clean rules in a crew here for a while, but running around on roads and simulated proper tracks no longer excite me like it used to back in 2013 on the PS4. I know some like it and some don't, but I honestly just find the stunt tracks R* put out just to be way more fun.
Sometimes I'll use my second character and try to win races with a Bullet. That goes as well as you'd expect. But hey, gotta cut the randoms a break now and then.
Really puts into perspective how bad randoms are though. When I raced with people on here I usually brought up the back of the pack or maybe the middle most. I go back to stunt racing and I can usually place first or at least top 3. Sheesh if they can't beat me then I pity randoms trying to race the high level racers. lol
Maybe I should of checked to see if there was any interest for a stunting event around here. Who knows, maybe in the future I'll check that out.
Anyway I think I'm rambling at this point. lol. But on topic yes, I'm in the non-contact camp, my personal favorite race type.

To me Non Contact isn't racing, its just competitive driving. All the fun is in the challenge of passing the other racers, there is no challenge if you can just drive through them. I get that racing randoms can be frustrating because of the ramming, but lets face it, it is hardly the end of the world if you loose a random race its not like its an event or anything, most of the time I can still win even after getting rammed off the road multiple times, if I can win a race in that situation then any one in this crew can Besides, no victory is more sweet than the one when i absolutely trounce a group of racers who spent the previous race ramming me out of their way.

^^ What Theign said
While I understand the trouble of finding people who will race clean, or having to deal with a laggy person, in the end contact racing requires far more skill. Defending, Passing, racing in a pack, etc. all are apart of real racing. This type of racing requires more than just pace and in my opinion is much more enjoyable.
side note: Non-contact racing does have some benefits, and can be used as a good training tool

I do agree with the racing skill required to succeed in contact races, the limitations of a controller still prevents the pure racing we all seek.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love setting someone up for a pass, but in my experience the person I'm setting up doesn't realize it and just crashes into me not expecting me to be where he wants to go.
In my carting days you could trust the other driver, but in virtual races where people are driving with joysticks, it's very difficult to have clean contact races. Not impossible, but very difficult.

For public stunt races non-contact is alright since there are a lot of bad drivers and rammers out there but for races with decent drivers, I always prefer contact on.
Granted, a little thumbstick will never be as precise as a wheel but I don't find the controller to be too limiting. Accidents will happen but even in iRacing where everyone is using a wheel and pedals you'll see big pileups and dumb crashes all the time.

I don't like non-contact racing, but I imagine that if I did it more often, I would improve my raw pace and end up being a faster racer. What I'm trying to say is, if you just want to 'go faster' then I recommend doing some non-contact racing, but if you want to become 'a better racer' I would stick mostly with contact with members of our crew. To be a better general racer and be faster, a mixture of both is probably best.
Since I joined this crew, I don't think I've really gotten 'quicker', but rather I've just learned a lot about racing etiquette and strategy such as defending and overtaking. This then enables me to be more consistent and better at not losing positions. I've gotten this from racing in countless playlists and events, all with contact on.

My opinion. Non contact is for hotlapping imo. Contact is more skill required, as mentioned before.
I don’t mind noncon races once in a blue moon, but I for sure don’t go out of my way to ask for them lel.

I like both types of racing. NC is great for improving driving ability, and the battles provided by Contact are fun.

If you know you're the best driver in the lobby essentially non-contact are free wins.

For a point to point (aka short) race in a public lobby, Non-Contact is a must. Otherwise I could live without it.

If you know you're the best driver in the lobby essentially non-contact are free wins. This is an excellent way to make money when there is double payout on stunt races. Three laps give you around 60k and you'll win 95% of the races.
