If catch up and slip stream is on and the track is simple like most of the oval tracks then typically until the last lap I would take it easy with minimal curb boosting to avoid making myself look like a threat and try to take safe lines. If you are on the outside of a corner then its easy to be taken out by someone just by accident whilst the inside is far safer even if you have to slow down more. Just like crew races the map is helpful as it shows when someone is getting close and if they start to try to spin you then braking and turning the opposite way is often enough to avoid a full crash. In the first lap it often becomes clear which people are going out of the way to ram people so those people I will be particularly careful around and I will try to not take out others in case they then try to retaliate.
The usual rules for racing of course also apply: picking a fast custom car, taking racing lines, curb boosting etc.

In my experience, it's best to take advantage of how awful many players really are. I race clean, even when they try to mess me up. If they succeed, I catch back up and pass by with ease. Broughy has a video on this that might help (although it's a bit outdated).

If randoms spin me out, I would catch them up and completely destroy them running them off the track. And then carry on with the race taking it smooth and clean making sure they cannot catch back up. Or do the easier option and not race with them.

Try to avoid contact, change your lines, adapt your driving style.
Most of player will hit you because they don't know the track and/or the car they're driving. just a minority are trolling scums.

Just be a savage and reck them If they reck u Fully agreed. Be a fucking savage and annihilate everyone in your path. Plan A - driving fair - won't work anyways. Luckily there is always a Plan B - War

Anyone got any tips for avoiding conflict in races with randoms Non-contact gets rid of all scumbaggery and it's usually an easy win. If only catch up is off, avoid first corner collisions and then get into first place asap and just keep going. If catch up is on, accept the fact that randoms will do anything to get the win, so anticipate getting pitted. Try to be at the front pack, avoid collisions and take advantage of the catch up mechanism at the right time: just before the finish. Also, some races are more prone of having trolls. These are usually the stunt races with narrow pathways such as canyon crossing, duel, vespucci, trench II,...

Generally, random players tend to outbreak themselves quite often and just ram into you and use you as a brake for the corner, so taking an earlier apex might get you out of the way before they try something, even if it generally is not the quickest line.

Try to get as far ahead as possible, you'll generaly find cleaner racers in front, but always be ready for someone to take you out. Usualy, if im getting slipstreamed or see someone in prime position to perform a pit maneuvre and expect said person to try and take me out, i just slam on the brakes and watch them either fly across the screen or bounce off my car and get destroyed

Luckily there is always a Plan B - War So that's why most nodo's race so clean and calm ... Got it out of their system in random races hahaha

Get out front early! Tip toe around the inside of the first few corners until the majority of the dodos crash out. After that you can resume normal driving line, just don't expect respect. Defensive driving is more helpful even if sometimes slower, in my experience.

I totally agree to Thumper1311. This strategie helped me out a lot in the past races.

whenever I see someone swerving into me in random lobbies I usually pull the nose out and steer wide outside, they'll PIT themselves
