Lol was about to post the same article. I fully agree with DC. I've been watching full Formula 1 seasons since 1994 and no matter how fast the cars were or what they looked like because of the regulations at the time you could always see the drivers push them to the absolute limit on track. Ever since the ban on refueling and particularly the introduction of the more fragile (shit) Pirelli tires all you ever see drivers do is tiptoe around to keep life in the tires. As a fan it's very frustrating to see the worlds finest drivers cruise around, save tires, and hopefully at the end of a stint try an overtake if the other guy runs out of rubber first. It's either that or they blast past with the help of DRS; no skill involved there and as seen in particularly Barcelona, drivers are left defenceless. The pre pirelli and fuel saving era (or as I like to call them; the good old days) saw just a couple of overtakes per race on certain tracks and even none on others, but the battles were mighty. Two drivers and cars completely on the edge lap pushing flat out throughout the entire race. That was far more exciting to watch in my opinion than a hundred overtakes a race where drivers can't/won't put up a fight because there's either nothing they can do about it or they need to save tires and fuel. In my opinionF1 has kind of turned into a slow, fugly, hybrid parade where every driver cruises around the track to keep their tires fresh and their fuel flow as low as possible instead of pushing themselves and their cars to the absolute limit. Paired with cars that sound like vacuum cleaners and laptimes that are only slightly faster than a GP2 car can manage and you've succesfully killed a once amazing sport. Why do I keep watching a sport that I'm so incredibly negative about? Force of habbit I guess, and the hope that they'll do something to fix the sport and bring it back to its former glory.

Great example of a fight that, eventhough it didn't result in an overtake, is much more exciting than anything current day F1 has to offer:
I'd rather watch a race long fight like this than any DRS 'push a button to overtake' BS

Big changes coming up in Formula 1, the F1 Strategy Group agreed on several changes for 2016 and 2017 season. The information that we've got is brief, the main thing is they're going to make an effort to improve the show. www.fia.com/news/f1-strategy-group-press-releaseA lot of discussion going on all over, I'm just hoping for further details. edit: I don't really know how to feel about these changes, mixed feelings so far. As long as these rule changes are carefully planned without brainfarts, without compromising safety or costs, it can't be for worse than F1 is right now.

Lewis has learned to keep his thoughts to himself in front of the cameras, which is disappointing. I was hoping to hear some juicy Ali G references.

Hamilton had an 18 second lead before pitting during the safety car period, the fastest pit stop in total this year was 24.117 seconds, no idea how Mercedes could think they would make up 6 seconds from nowhere. Awful for Hamilton, was gutted about that but at least the championship is going to be even more interesting now

So annoyed at Mercedes for throwing away the 1 2 and costing Lewis the win. Was fully expecting Lewis to be in a hump about it after but he seemd to remain relatively calm. He has matured greatly since his early seasons.
Max Verstapen following the Ferrari through the backmarkers was LOL and pure genius at a track like Monaco, the kid has talent! Even if it did end in a silly mistake.

Well I believe that once again its proven that Monaco shouldnt be in the calendar. Its the same story every year really, everyone gets very excited during practise and qualifying, the glamour, the track is brilliant, oooo look how close they are to the walls and I do admit I enjoy watching the pre race sessions very very much. When you get to the race though the simple fact of the matter is that overtakes arent possible (and no Max would have never overtaken Pastor if he didnt have problems with his brakes, only proper overtake was Ricciardo‘s and even then it was contriversial) so we are doomed just watching them go round and round a great track with no action happening. And yes Monaco GP is a classic and its got all this history but am not thinking any of that during the race, all I am thinking is that its boring.

I do agree with you regarding the ridiculous tightness of it, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it shouldn't be in the calendar anymore There was virtually no movement at the front, but outside top 7 moved around a bit. Nasr and especially Jenson shouldn't be complaining lol

I like Monaco because it's Monaco, not because it's an enjoyable race to watch but because it's an insane track and part of the Formula 1 heritage and therefor should always be on the calendar. I'd rather have a calendar full of Monaco GP's than the GP of Russia/Abu Dhabi or some other place that doesn't care about Formula 1 or motor racing in general.
The best part about the Monaco GP weekend is watching the cars go flat out during qualifying, or if it's a chaotic wet race. Only mild entertainment during the whole race this year was Max Verstappen, those cheeky overtakes on Bottas and Sainz as he was following Vettel were brilliant to watch. Not much else to say about the weekend other than Mercedes and Hamilton coming to the joint retarded decision of pitting for fresh rubber when no one else was, everyone knows track position is king at Monaco.

Monaco needs more ramps. But seriously me and my father in law was talking about it, it's not safe, there's not much overtaking. It may be Monaco but its an awful circuit.

I agree with this if I'm sitting at home watching it. Being there is a whole different ball game though. There's nothing like it, not even going to other F1 races.
