Watching Michael Waltrip do his grid walk for the All-Star, and this bullshit happens: Waltrip: "Hey Miss Sprint Cup, how are you?" *she doesn't answer that extremely simple question and instead spouts off some Sprint sponsorship crap* Waltrip: "Oh, well, who do you like to win tonight?" *more sponsor crap* "...and that's why I like Matt Kenseth to win." (she only picked him because she was standing right next to him)
I know it's her job to be pretty and promote Sprint, but c'mon, that just takes the joke of NASCAR sponsors to the exact level everyone makes fun of NASCAR for. If they had said "let's talk to her about Sprint's involvement in tonight" then sure. I wonder if Mikey regretted talking to her at all because his grid walks are fast and he doesn't like to stop, but she held him up for quite some time.

I'm curious to see what NASCAR ends up doing given Stewart's statement about the race. I didn't watch any of it, so I've no idea how we fared (other than the obvious); with luck the car's in good shape.
I know NASCAR was being very picky about the cars for the All Star race, including things that many teams have been doing all year without comment (to my knowledge).
Ah well. Time for me to get my butt to work; we've got a road course car due out of the body shop and I'm sure there'll be last minute emergencies for the Charlotte primary.

I thought the race was pretty good. Even though I'm a Ford guy, I would have been happy if Larsen won, but I knew he couldn't hold off Logano. Tony's interview was hilarious. Not exactly sure what he was particularly mad about. He was in the back and got caught up in a wreck. It is what it is. Must have been some behind the scenes stuff as you mentioned. I think there was an issue with Casey's car at the start? I recall seeing the car stopped high on the track before they even took the green.
Unrelated, you guys interested in the new NASCAR Heat game? It's made by the same guys that made the old Heat games, which were way better then Thunder in my opinion, so I have some high hopes we can actually get a good console NASCAR game here.

The big problem is that everyone was confused regarding the rules this year- including NASCAR. A scenario developed that NASCAR hadn't considered, and their response was at first, "We don't know what to do," and then after that, cars that were waiting for their turn to pit were put a lap down for not having pitted yet. In other words, people were getting punished for following rules, because NASCAR hadn't planned appropriately. Or at least that's my understanding based on news articles.

Ah yea, now I remember. The Matt Kenseth caution. The guys in the booth seemed to have it figured out. I liked the mandatory stop, but that caution really screwed everything up.

As I watch this incredibly boring Coke 600, I'll mention that I got my tickets to the Pocono 400! It'll be my 18 consecutive year and 35th consecutive NASCAR Pocono race.

Truex won tonight. Led all but 4 laps. Truex ain't a bad guy, but the Gibbs teams are just way too strong this year. It's ridiculous.

This was my 18th year at Pocono, and probably the worst conditions I've seen. The fog was insane. Even if NASCAR could race on a wet track, there's no way they could have raced in this fog. My tickets are still good for Monday, but I might have to work. Definitely going to get the full race in though. Forecast is sunny and 85F.

Been going to Pocono for both races since 1998. I've dealt with my fair share of rain delays, but I don't think we've had both races delayed a day in the same year. What really pisses me off is that the past few weeks have been drought-like for us. Prior to this weekend, we had maybe two or three days with some kind of rain in the past three weeks or so. NASCAR comes to town and we get consecutive days of not just rain, but hard rain. There were even announcements to leave the stands due to severe weather on Saturday. After hard morning rains, it stopped around 11:30 and they had the track dry by 1, but for whatever reason never started the race. Then it downpoured at 2:30 and they called it shortly after. There were many boos. They could have fit the race in, but kept stalling.
Also worth noting, despite the clusterfuck that was today, the stands were way fuller than than the scarcity of the Brickyard last week. There were a ton of people at the track today and a whole lot of them went home pretty pissed off, myself included. I know that ranting about weather is pointless given we can't control it, but sometimes, you just gotta rant.
