Are all of the 10 who picked Conservatives in this post being serious? Were you voting for policy or leadership/speaking skills? Is that how you actually voted? Really struggling to understand why you would vote Tory, especially in Wales. Fucking weird Pembrokeshire/mid Wales. (Mine was pretty much as safe a Labour seat as you get in a working class and impoverished area) Must feel mighty fine to be Scottish rn Just reading the op again. Fair play for liking some Green policies but for a 17 year old to say so the best I can hope for is the Conservatives is really grim. Where are you from? Have a look for ur constituency here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2015/results

Aside from Other, Tory and UKIP are the most popular picks on this forum, and we have more Tory government to deal with now after the polls have decided it.

You know this country is in a bad way when someone is seriously considering saying "Fuck it, I'm out"....If that certain someone did do that then it would most likely be for either America, where you can can be shot for the colour of your skin (no offence to any Americans) or Australia, where their leader is arguably more racism than that twat Farage!

Are there any Scottish SNP voters here?
I'm interested to hear why you voted for them?

Have a look for ur constituency here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2015/resultsWell My constituency is one of the safest seats for Conservatives, Beckenham if you want then name My view goes purely on economic as a whole. Cuts are bad socially, they bring unrest among the public, frustration and disappointment. But given the economic situation cuts are necessary. The recession has hit hard, and the time is one of recovery, the country needs a strong and firm leader that will not look for "short term fixes" and look at the future. Labour are a party that is one that wants to reduce the deficit, like every party but wants to increase spending in public sectors, welfare, lower student fees and subsidies the cost to the university but somehow reduce the deficit without borrowing any money? They say a mansion tax will help, maybe, but I don't see them getting hundreds of millions a year to even put a dent into the debt. The money to repay the debt is therefore non-existent in this situation, and I don't want it to get a to a point when the debt is impossible to repay. If we look at some other countries, Sweden has brilliant healthcare, but the taxes are high. To reduce the debt would you be willing to pay up to 70% tax a year? For me I've never had a problem with the NHS, the privatisation of the NHS is made worse than it is. For me Labour would only put us in more debt, and the Tories are the only current party that has a plan to reduce it that has evidence it could work. Spending more money but magically reducing debt as we somehow have more money than before for no reason is a great idea where you can create money. Yes I'm brought up in a middle class family, in an area where unemployment is low and poverty is low, so maybe I don't know what it's like for working class, unemployed people or so on, so you could say that. But going for the good of the future of the economy and the stability of the country, Conservatives win my vote.

Just a question out of interest. Lots of the conversation has been dominated by how and to what to degree the different leaders want to 'balance the economy' - the rate at which they want to pay off debt vs. public spending essentially. Now my question - do any of you believe that the national debt will ever actually be paid off? Do any of you think it will ever even be halved?
I just really don't understand why people think that it's an achievable or desirable goal. Debt continues to increase all around the world - and will continue to do so (as it has already) in orders of magnitude. It's clear that these debts will NEVER be paid off. Would this be a bad thing?
Hypothetical - Ignoring for a second the accompanying consequences; who would be losing out if some kind of bearded fiscal deity wiped all the debt in the world? I'm willing to bet that if you are an ordinary person, and not a multi trillionaire, this arrangement would be great for you.
From my standpoint, this entire part of the political conversation is quite absurd. Everyone knows, but no-one is willing to say, that these debts will never be paid off. It is as if we are in that moment where a cartoon character has run off a cliff, and the second he looks down he will fall. It's only a matter of time. The system limps on - it's cancerous nature requiring ever increasing growth, but there is no room left for it to grow into! Its growth is now completely imaginary, but it will reach the bounds of imagination sometime too! It will only take a small crisis, and it's all going to fall down - and there is going to be one hell of a sh!tstorm.
Now I didn't write this to provoke talk about what will happen next (unless of course any of you might like to discuss it) - but only to gauge your opinions on the future of this world, and it's relationship to banking/debt. Do you see a climax approaching?
I guess to get back to my original point, why are we putting off the inevitable by trying to pay off debts that will never be paid off? And why are we doing this at the expense of the majority of people who will be poorer/sicker/unhappier because of it?
