Can anyone with the closed beta tell us about the handling physics? Many people are quite concerned after seeing gameplay.

Can anyone with the closed beta tell us about the handling physics? Many people are quite concerned after seeing gameplay. My thoughts on the beta Likes Good paint and vinyl editor Parts are cheap Cars are cheap (a friend was able to buy every car during the beta) Dislike/issues Map is way too small (hoping beta wasnt whole map but sadly looks like it is) It isnt the "2x size of NFS Rivals" they touted. Always raining/wet. I get it Ghost games. You are proud of your water but for a parody of LA it rains too much and I dislike rain effects in general (not because of driving difficulties) Driving is a chore. It isn't fun and the physics are really wonky. Cars are either too slidey or stiff as a board regardless of tuning balancing. Cop prescence and difficulty is way too low. I struggled to find cops and when I did it was too easy to lose them. Also doesnt seem like you can wreck out cops like most other nfs games. Car list is dissapointing. Im not a tuner guy and naturally I knew there would be alot of tuners but sadly the amount of supers sports and muscles is too low. Customization. There are tons of visual areas such a sheadlights and such but there was hardly any customization for any of the cars in the game. Phone calls. The amount of time you have to answer is short and they keep pestering you till you answer making for an annoyance and they play through cutscenes if you trigger a call and cutscene at the same time. All in all I really think this is the nail in the coffin for NFS for me and in general. I will get the game (reluctantly) because everyone i play with on a daily basis will but IDK if its gonna be fun. Im really really really hoping the beta wasnt the full game as it will be shipped making up for the lack of visuals and cars buuuuuttt yeah.

Im really really really hoping the beta wasnt the full game as it will be shipped making up for the lack of visuals and cars buuuuuttt yeah. Hm I feel like you had a different experience than I did. A few comments: I though the customization options on most of the cars was pretty strong, visually and mechanically. I'm lumping the paint/vinyl in with that as well. Driving was difficult at first, but that's why there are so many different options. All the swaybars, tires, suspension, brakes, and many other pieces offered a chance to get your vehicle dialed in the way you want. I'm not sure but I think the map will be larger at release. There were a few areas on the actual map that your couldn't get to that looked like there were roads going to them. Remember when the first screens came out for GTA V on XB1 and PS4 and everything looked wet? I'm 99% sure that's why it was always night-time and raining for the beta. The water makes everything shiny and gives a sort of artificial boost to the graphics of the cars and the environment. The graphics are really good so it was kind of a shame that (if I'm right) they went in a sort of shady direction to show off. I saw some screens that showed cars in the day-time, but I'm not entirely sure they were from this NFS. I've gotta agree with the cops and car list complaints though. Since running from the cops seems like a pretty big portion of the game (Outlaw is it's own play style afterall) they were pretty underwhelming. I never felt like I was in danger of being busted or even sustaining damage to my car. The car list is a bit lackluster, but again I'm thinking that's a result of the beta. It also sucked that there were 7 or 8 muscle cars total and FOUR of them were Mustangs (1965, BOSS, 5.0, and Foxbody). Nothing against Mustangs, but for how few cars there seemed to be it was annoying that this family of cars appeared so many times. The constant phone calls were aggravating, but I'm blaming the beta again on that one. Not because I think the beta had more phone calls than the real game, but because the network was so weak. I'd take a call from each of the NPCs, start a race, get kicked from the server. Repeat, repeat, repeat. If an NPC called during a race and you accidentally picked up, it was just about guaranteed I'd be kicked from the server. I didn't like that catchup seemed to be on no matter what. A friend of mine with his stock beginner car (BRZ) was able to keep up with and beat my fully customized M4. And it's not like I kept wrecking or missing my lines...it just seems like all player cars are made equal. I also struggled against the AI in my drifting competitions. Their cars would crash, go the wrong way, or go through a turn perfectly straight (like they're not trying to drift) and still exit the corner with at least twice as many points for drifting than I did, almost every time. I touched on it earlier, but my biggest concern was the server strength. I lost count of how many times I got dropped during a given race. On average, I'd say it took 4 attempts to complete a race thanks to errors or loss of connection. I know it's a beta, but what bothers me is that it was a closed beta, which means they knew the maximum amount of players that would be on the server and it struggled to handle it. Hopefully they learned from it. I didn't play Rivals, so if that server worked as intended I'm sure this one will at release.

I'd to talk about your complaint about balance. Need for Speed, of at least the older games, have always been about balance. I'm playing through Most Wanted 2005 and the moment and I'm racing against Golfs in my Gallardo and they are putting up a very good fight. It's not about the fastest car, it's about your favourite with classic NFS, so that hasn't changed.

It would be a bummer if there was just one or two cars that you more or less had to use to be competitive, like in GTAV. I'm happy that there are options and you can always race in any of them, but at the same time some cars just perform better than others and that's what I expected here.

I remember back on the first Underground playing through the story and game about 8-9 times. Once for each car(Near enough), simply by choice because i was that hooked lol. Was great fun as even though they were pretty balanced they all had their unique characteristics ie. Slightly Higher top speeds, acceleration, drifting capabilities. Except the skyline lol that was clearly a beast.

Looks like the full list of cars available at launch has come out. www.technobuffalo.com/2015/10/20/need-for-speed-car-list/Honestly, I'm slightly disappointed. About 47 of these cars were in the beta and the newly announced ones are repeats or similar cars. Like the Nissans or Carreras. Or having every version of the BR-Z. I know that each model year or make is different in it's way, but a bit more variety would be nice. I'm sure this will be addressed in the free updates that will apparently be coming out regularly for the game. I'm also surprised at the VW and Honda choices. Specifically the GTI (1983 model year) and the Type R (2000). I guess I was expecting the brand new Type R since they included the new Focus RS. I was also really hoping for the new Volkswagen Golf R or the Club GTI. Either way, still very excited for the release in two weeks!

I think there was 50 cars in the beta, only one missing was the M2. Personally I'm more surprised that there isn't any Audis in the game.

In defence of the list, 51 cars is still a heck of a lot considering how detailed we know the customisation will be, and they've said that there will be more updates to the game for free in the future, so that list will be added to. I am disappointed in how many different models of practically the same car there are, however, but never mind.

Also, you can only have 5 cars at a time so having a average-ish sized car list might be a good thing so you don't get torn apart by choices, but that might just be me damage controlling

The "TONIGHT WE RIDE" bit at the end confused me for a second. I was hyped up and assumed that mean it was available today lol
