I've restarted this. I'm taking time to really search the map, finding hidden locations and killing random enemies to rank up instead of rushing through the story right away.
It's going to be hard to do, but I'd love to be able to reach max rank in this play though.
However I have a issue I'm hoping someone can help with. On my travels I found a dead body that prompted a side mission. I don't mind doing a occasional side mission so I started this one up. Now the goal of this mission is to find a hunting rifle at the Ration Stockpile. So I clear out the entire area and follow the icon to where it looks like the rifle is. I get there but then the icon tells me I need to go up and it looks like a corpse had glitched as I see his bony arm hanging down through the roof. Looking online it's said there is suppose to be a hidden passage that leads to a room above you. But I've looked all over and can't find it.
I don't tend to like asking for help, you know you like doing it on your own. But I really have no clue where I need to go to find this rile. So has anyone here got a walkthough of this mission or maybe describe to me where I need to go? Because this thing has me stumped.

So I started a 3rd playthrough. In my last one I decided to play though Far Harbour (good for the most part) and I sided with the Raiders in Nuka World (terrible for the most part). So I wanted to restart and do Nuka World differently. This time all Raiders are dying.
But anyway, I did plan to play this game on very hard instead of easy. I knew the game would be harder but I figured you'd at least get more ex out of it. But from what I see that's not the case. I did a few missions on hard and from what I see I'm making the same ex as on easy.
So on hard my character is super weak, even weak enemies are very powerful, and I should put up with this why? If hard earned more ex then easy then it would be worth learning the game. But since I don't play a lot of shooters these days, why should I not just play on easy and casually enjoy the story? I'm earning the same experience regardless.
Not really a issue, I just think you should be rewarded for playing on hard. In a game like Fallout you should earn more ex playing on hard over easy, like on GTA how you earn more money playing on hard over easy. But if I'm earning the same ex either way, I don't see a reason to making the game any harder then it needs to be.

Huh.. I haven't played Fallout in ages. Now that I think about it, I don't think I ever played Far Harbor either... I guess I know what rabbit hole I'll be falling back down for the next few weeks.

Damnit man lol. I saw this on recent threads and read "Fallout" and "new game." I didn't immediately realize that this thread was from 2015 and got pretty excited for a minute

Instead those fucktards at Betheda are supposedly giving us a "Fallout-like space RPG". I don't want to go to stinking space, I want Fallout 5 damnit. lol Space can suck it. Well far as Fallout 4 I decided to start a melee based character. I'm not very far in but my most powerful weapon so far is the Bladed Board doing 70 hit damage. Pretty fun going around whacking and slashing people to death. Nice change from just shooting everybody.

That must have been such a rollercoaster. Well far as Fallout 4 I decided to start a melee based character. Nice change from just shooting everybody. That's a good idea. I did kinda the same with Skyrim last year and it was like a whole new game.. instead of my usual archer rogue or dual-wielder I went full blown battlemage. Completely different game and yet so much the same. In that specific case I wished I was on PC and could jump hotkeys between specific spell wielding combos, but that's a conversation for another thread I suppose. Anyway I've never gone melee in fallout. Maybe that will help me get some fresh air in the game

I dunno what to do. lol.
So I sided with the raiders in Nuka-world and now they want to invade the Commenweath. If this is just gonna turn me against the Minutemen then I don't care, who gives a shit about them? But my favorite gun is the Railway Rifle, I have the thing doing 200 damage per shot and I can get a lot of vats shots with it, and the store clerk on the Brotherhood ship sells me 200+ spikes every time I visit him.
I don't care about Minutemen, but I don't wanna turn on the Brotherhood Of Steel.
Have anyone invaded the Commenwealth before with the Nuka-world raiders? If so what happens?

Fallout 4 is utterly terrible. The only negatives is choices doesn't mean as much as they once did in older games, and they chanced the selection menu for choosing your speech choices. I love that our character has a voice now, but there was no need to change the text boxes. I'd still like to know what my character would say before she says it just so I can make the most sense of things. And it doesn't make sense you can befriend every faction if you wanted and have Super Mutants like Strong running around on the Brotherhood airship. That said the world is beautiful and pretty big. You still get the scene of doom and gloom when rad storms roll around, or if you go to the Glowing Sea or Far Harbour. But Betheda decided not to make the world dark and gloomy constantly, and I like it. Really lets you appreciate the world they've created and rad storms feel more impactful now when they do show up, going from clear bright sky's to a greenish foggy haze of death really instill dread into you. And the combat in Fallout 4 is the best the series have seen. I do still use vats a lot because I like seeing the slow motion kills, but you really don't need vats in Fallout 4 like some older Fallout games. Overall the game has far less issues and crashes far less often then the likes of Fallout 3, which crashed the PS3 constantly. The story in Fallout 4 is alright, not amazing but good. I find the story better reflects playing as a female. A mother in a strange world not sure of what's going on, looking for who she thinks is her infinite son. I think the story is a little to emotional in tone to really make sense playing as male, so I prefer making females in the game.

OK, so let me be clear - I started on Fallout 1. I know what Fallout should be. Fallout 4 is dumbed down, perhaps to make it a viable mass market IP, to the point of not being Fallout. It's not a roleplaying game, it's a shitty FPS with some town building mechanics tacked on.
If you want an actually good 3D Fallout game, that is a natural successor to Fallout 1 and 2, then there's New Vegas. If you want something devoid of plot, depth, choice, and meaning, then Fallout 4 is right there.

Wow. I didn't know there'd be an F4 thread going around. I have a love and hate relationship with F4. I don't like it, but it's addictive when you play it for a while. It's so bad for me that I uninstall it in the morning and install it back at night. I tried immersing myself in the world, but it just sucks that 90% of what you're doing is fighting and getting into combat. It's a shoot & loot simulator on rails. That being said, I have it installed again. But this time, I'm just playing it the way 'I' want to. No settlement building because.. screw that. I have better things to do than to build stuff. I even went out of my way to never visit Concord. I'm exploring on my own. I walk around in Pre-war clothes and I carry heavy weapons because I can. In my playthrough of F4, I'm "the guy". I'm the protagonist. Ultimately, I want to the antagonist. Institute all the way.

F4... its not what i hoped it would be.. To me its a game that looks like Fallout.. has props that refer to Fallout.. but isnt what Fallout should be.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas did a much better job. Like said before here in this topic.. This Fallout is just an FPS with some game elements tacked on.
Shame, cause it could have been a damn good installment.
