After looking at the map on the Pip-Boy app, I noticed . . . {Spoiler}Salem, Mass. is in the game (at the very north-east). I can't wait for the kooky witch mission. A surprise, because many thought they might not be able to fit in the map.

Does anyone know when the pre-load begins for people who bought it digitally? I decided that since my BX only had FOUR copies of Need For Speed I couldn't trust them to stock enough copies of Fallout for me to make it there before it sells out. The problem is my internet is slow and I know it'll take awhile so I'm hoping it's already started for others. I'm pretty sure I saw an article somewhere saying pre-downloads are already out....and then I saw and article on IGN today saying people on X1 have most likely downloaded the wrong file because the wrong one was uploaded lol Man that sucks! My PS4 download hasn't started yet but I'm pretty sure it starts tomorrow. If 36gigs is accurate then I think it will be done by the time I'm home from work on tuesday. NFS was 18gigs and that took about 8 hours.

I would assume Fallout will be closer to 50gb to be honest. They say that the map apparently hasn't gotten too much larger than 3 or New Vegas but it has become a hell of a lot more dense i.e. it feels like a world (similar to hot Los Santos felt kind of real when you first played GTA V). A denser world means it will undoubtedly be a rather larger file size

I believe GTA was much larger than that and it was like a 3 day download for me.

I can't say I'll miss that public launch party, but I'm actually somewhat uncomfortable about my digital purchase at this point. PSN said the preload was expected to begin Nov 8th. I was hoping that meant 12:01 AM today...but still nothing. It's well into Nov 8th across the US as well. I suppose that means it could happen anytime today. I hope it does.

I read somewhere (can't find the source at the moment) that pre loading for the PS4 should start at 6PM GMT today.

It's because Bethesda are some of the best in the industry at compression. Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Oblivion were all around or less than 6 gb. Oddly enough Skyrim is smaller, in gbs, than Fallout 3. It comes from how they generate the world using pre-made assets.

The hype just hit me a little harder.

Rockstar could learn a thing or two from these guys. GTAV is 58GB. I know it's a big world with a lot going on but damn.

@countfragington If you wanted to know how crazy good Bethesda is at compression (specifically install size, not including unpacking), Oblivion was 5.87 gigs, Fallout 3 was 5.48 gigs, and Skyrim was 3.68-3.8 gigs in Xbox 360. The odd thing you'll notice, is that the games got bigger with less memory being used (source www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAXAnAgSMEo&list=UURrHl7MO7gcwWguTTqDzBHw&index=15 ).

Took the day off and played as much as I could. Exactly the game I expected. The graphics certainly could be better but I don't even care because the gameplay is so freakin' good. I love it. 2 mods I guarantee we'll see: Iron Man armor and the turrets from Portal.
