So seeing as the new season is starting this weekend I thought I'd create a thread to chat about football. I'm going to be doing a poll every week for things like Premier League winner/ top scorer/ relegation.
As an Ipswich fan I'm very excited for the new season and I'm hoping we can challenge for automatic promotion this season. We've made some good new signings and I pretty sure we'll get into the top 6 again.

I voted Arsenal but I don't actually think we will.

I voted Arsenal but I don't actually think we will. I voted Arsenal as well. I think that Arsenal will surprise a lot of people and win the league quite convincingly especially if Ozil keeps his end of season form up.

I think we still need some defensive midfield cover (especially if Flamini leaves, which I sort of hope he does to force us into the market). Another centre-back and a striker wouldn't hurt, but we should do well if squad players like Chambers, Welbeck can step up. At least we can't start this season any worse than the last one (bar the CS against Man City) I do feel confident about our squad overall. Cech is a great keeper, Walcott should hit double figures if he stays fit and I'm expecting good things from Ramsey and, like you said, Özil.

I love football but I hate the money. Voted for Southampton. I'd have voted for Accrington Stanley if you'd put them in the poll.

So the season starts tomorrow! I think the Man Utd/Spurs game will be very exciting and high scoring.

Last time Watford were in the PL they started away at Everton. On that occasion they lost and had a penalty given against them for handball when it hit Chris Powell's head.

I was going to say that it's possible for it to happen again but I doubt Chris Powell will be playing. Watford seemed to come out of nowhere in the Championship last season. Ipswich even managed to beat them twice.

Watford are interesting. They look to arguably have the best players of the promoted teams but they might be like QPR where they just aren't an effective unit at this level. Can't wait to see how Deeney does. Vydra was okay for WBA. No idea about Ighalo. Looking forward to some Gomes howlers. Prödl, Holebas and Jurado seem like good signings. Dunno if Behrami can hack it anymore.
Norwich have possibly the most boring squad of all time but they have some experience so could do well. Doubt it. Bournemouth the best promoted team for me.

I definitely agree about Watford being interesting. If Ighalo has the same form in the Premier League as he had in the Championship as well as Deeney then Watford will have an amazing chance at staying up. I'm not sure about their defence however and I think the same thing about Bournemouth. As much as it pains me to say it I think Norwich have the best defence out of the promoted teams but I don't know where they are going to get their goals from.
For me Watford and Bournemouth are staying up, but I'm not sure about Norwich.

Wisdom and Olsson are okay but the rest are so Norwich. Prödl and Holebas have international experience and have played for good teams (like all of Watford's players lol but they're still going down maybe). If Distin can recapture his old form and Smith and Mings are as good as people say, Bournemouth have some quality.

Mings is good but his end of season form was terrible. He just didn't seem to bother but hopefully he will do well (though we did fleece Bournemouth out of 8 million plus Brett Pitman lol) I'm not sure about Distin but in his prime he was a very solid centre back for Everton.

It's only two weeks in but Man City are setting the early pace. I think Swansea could challenge for Europe if Ayew and Gomis stay fit.
