My friend owns and Xbox One but his headset will not output from the mic. He has gone through all of Microsoft's troubleshooting steps, bought a new headset, and a full new console with controller. A friend logged onto his account on their Xbox and their voice worked. We have tried different networks. I am fairly sure this is a software problem. Anyone experience this or able to fix it?

Controller update? Try attaching the controller to the console via usb with the headset attached. If he is using a headset stereo adapter the adapter cord and olugs break all the time i have had 3 of those but if its the simple xbox controller and headset then its probably a controller update

What kind of headset does he have? I had a similar issue with my Beats headset, my old one worked but ended up stolen so I bought another one. The new headset cord didn't work and would transmit only clicks from plugging in the headset/etc. After tons of research, I found that the 3.5mm jack on some headsets are different formats. I bought another cord (different format) and it works perfectly. He may need to buy another cord or an adapter jack. parksguard

He ended up resolving the issue by trading in his xbox again for a third one and it worked. He had to have a friend log into his account to see if it worked. Two bad xboxes in a row with one of them being new. Rubbish luck.

Luckily GameStop was cool about it and let him just trade it out one for one. I thought it was a software issue.
