Broughy was going on about PC understeer in his recent video, and when I had short time to play on my friend's console I did see some little less understeer but I couldn't really tell why.
Does anyone know how this works? And if there are vehicles that are worse?

In my opinion it has to be the change in framerate causing you to be able to have more control of your car for longer. I'm not sure of any actual explanation, but it has to come down to framerate.

If you're under steering, perhaps because you can't control the car? Or never bothered learning how to?

Does anyone know how this works? And if there are vehicles that are worse? I believe it's caused by slower speeds on console. On PC, because of frame rate and the crazy kerb boosts, you're actually driving faster than an on console. If you have a certain braking point with a certain car that you're used to on console and try to brake at that same point on PC, you'll be going too fast into the corner and understeer wide. Similarly with accelerating out of a corner - you're accelerating at a faster rate on PC so the point of acceleration needs to be later than it would have been on console. Flicking the stick also becomes more important to counter it which is something I still don't do enough. In general if you're always on PC or always on console you're going to adapt and not experience any issues. It's only really when you switch between them often that it starts to become apparent for a while until you get used to it.

Is it possible for you or anyone else to make a side by side comparison to see if there are any differences between console and pc? Hypothesis based on what i've read: The cars on PC go faster due to a heavier reaction on kerb boosts, but they also have to brake a bit earlier to not go straight in a corner. If the times on both console and pc are about the same, and see if the difference is still there, maybe less noticeable when the pc variant runs at 30 fps. It would be really interesting to see where and most of all if there's a difference in pace over the course of a lap. I personally would've loved to test this and show it to you guys, but I don't have a console..

Might as well test kerb boosts for you. If Broughy wants to do it then go ahead. I was going to test comparisons of just straight lines between the two. Might as well test braking and kerb boost effects. I'll try and get it sorted it today. EDIT: there is a comparison by ITwisterr: youtu.be/ZY4kW0ON64U but it doesn't show what makes PC times faster, just shows the lap

My rig is definitely running way below 60fps. Does that mean that I'm actually slower than other PC players? Yay, I have an excuse for always coming last

Most I can do is run some laps on 60 fps and then limit the fps to 30. My rig is definitely running way below 60fps. Does that mean that I'm actually slower than other PC players? The only thing I can say is that PC times are quicker than console if running at 60fps, even when not abusing kerbs, and lap times plus straight line performance is identical on console to PC when PC is at 30fps (which is how I was able to do the extra testing). More testing does need to be done to work out why there are differences though.

I'm almost certain that the reason times are quicker on PC is because there are more frames to play with, so a dropped frame on PC costs you 1/60th of a second whereas on console it costs 1/30th. Given there are always going to be dropped frames the smaller impact of them on PC allows lap times to be quicker. The super kerb boosting on PC is probably related to this in some way, like being at fractionally higher revs in every 1/30th of a second interval between the frames that would normally be on console.

That's interesting for sure. So I can do testing on pc at 30 fps and get the results that I could've gotten if I did it on consoles? That would open up a lot of possibilities.

So simply put: Double fps = double the boost because you spend double the frames on that particular boost.
